Build Progress Report

Okay, I'm really bored waiting for Dead Space 2 to download onto my PS3, so I'll move forward with making a thread. Well, a couple of people have been curious about what the hell is taking so long with my build (and I do mean like two people...). So, here's where I'm at with everything:

In the boxes:

-Brad Penn break in oil
-lk9 intake manifold
-ARP Headstuds
-2.4 Throttlebody for the manifold
-Exedy Hypersingle Clutch w/TOB
-Timing replacement kit
-Headgasket kit (both kits from CED)
-ZZP 80# valvesprings with steel retainers
-An extra LSJ head to mess with (Thanks to BlackWidow)

The block is a gen1 2.0 LSJ block from ZZP. I put in Pauter rods, JE Pistons, and an underdrive pulley since this block will be turbocharged from the get-go. I'm taking my time getting all the parts that I want because I'm doing one time and one time only. I've also been putting my wedding and family life first.

I'm still looking for a few more parts, and I'm still not sure what route I'll go. It boils down to two options:

(1) Take the extra head and transfer my stock parts over to it with the ZZP springs. Put it on AS-IS, and call it a day.

(2) Send the extra head out for PnP to LSJION; get some valves, cams, etc. for the springs; slap it on and done.

Either way, I still need to modify the valve cover and work on a breather system. I also am in need of id1000's, or 190# injectors from ZZP. SO......if anyone happens to have breather system parts or injectors that are in working condition, I'd be much obliged in buying them for a fair price.

I'm Hawaiian time to get this project done (it gets done, when it gets done ). Thanks for all who want to see this done. I'm sure it'll be a beast once it's finished.

I'm sticking with the s20g for now because i never had any fun with it before the spark plug became a bullet. Once I'm done with it, I'm getting a precision turbo. Not sure what size yet.

It went down for the turbo swap back in about Aug. 2010. Came alive about June 2011, and ran into random issues here and there. First, ran into some weird clunking issue that ended up being bearings and something in the transmission. Then I ran into smoking issues out the tailpipe, which turned out to be oil blowing past the turbo. I slapped a breather filter on the bitch, and aside from oil on the valve cover, all was fine. Then, in June 2012, one of my spark plugs let go of its threading. Allegedly, the head was ruined and there was no way to tell how much shavings were in the block. At least that's what my mechanic told me. Later, I found out while I was in the process of selling the car to him, he crammed a heli coil in there, stuffed the plug back in, and swapped my car to e85. Needless to say, I was pissed, took the car back, and drove it normally. I even tuned it for e85 and it ran great for six months...until I realized what a **** poor job the guy did on the heli coil. The same spark plug became a bullit, and damaged a coil, put a nice dime sized dent in my hood, and cracked the paint.

So, I towed the car home and put it on stands while I bought everything I needed. Honestly, it's taken this long because of some unfortunate decision making on my part and other party (which I won't mention who). So this is where I'm at. I'm 20 days away from getting married, and I promised my wife I won't turn a wrench until after our vows. In the mean time, I've got some thinking to do about what parts I want, and how I'm going to put everything together. I'm doing this solo because I've come to find that I can only rely on me and two other close friends (my tuner, and a close friend I've known since I've owned this car). 574, you're pretty much the only reason I made this thread, so as long as you or any one else is interested, I'll keep updating it.

I don't deal with ottp. Didn't care for their customer service when I ordered a stage kit from them.

Also, I can help you out with the valve cover mods and a catch can setup. I can even port the head for you at a discount.

We will see what's up. As I stated before, nothing is going to happen until I get married. But I'm willing to give it a second go if you guys are.
