Buying GM stage 2? PLEASE READ -Possible sticky?

The second you get your stage 2 home, CRACK THE PULLEY BOLTS LOOSE, REMOVE LOCTITE, AND RETIGHTEN THEM!!!!

mods can this be stickied, or added to the current S2 info or something?
so many people still dealing with this, and breaking bolts, having to cut/heat/pull the blower etc.

could all be easily avoided....

well theres a much better chance of breaking them free a few hours after them being loctited, than a few weeks...months right?

I see your point. Even with the blue loctite it can be a pain...however my bolts were just fine getting out. and it was about a two months later. and I didnt even have the GM tool...just used a square bit....

but i feel bad for so many people who get their new pully,
and go through the hell of those bolts being unbreakable.

I'm sure other people are wondering this too... What exactly is "Loctite"? Is it they type of bolt or is it something they put under the bolt that makes it a pain in the ass to take off? That's my assumption. Can you just tell the dealer to not use it when they install you Stage 2?

its a liquid that turns into a hard plastic in the abscence of air...so when they put it on the threads of a bolt and screw it in it solidifies thus locking hte bolt in place

loctite is a kind of glue... it is heat activated... as you put a bolt in it generates heat... which activates the lock tite... as soon as you get it tightened down where you want it... it sticks hard as a rock...

partially true. It actually has a chemical reaction with the metal thats why when you use it on stainless steel you are supposed to use a special reactor from loctite to cure it quicker.

Basically it helps prevent bolts from vibrating loose, blue is the lightest grade and useual I say usualy can be braken without heat, red you will need heat if it fully cured and green is said to be "permanent"

anomolus is right take it home take one bolt out at a time clean the loctite off it then put it back in tight, it wont move

it is not heat activated, it cures when there is a lack of air between tight fitting metal surfaces, best when not stainless steel. oit creates a chemical reaction

Calm down there killer, it's just a question. I asked it 'cause I'm sure there's a bunch of other people who don't know what it is. We're not all you
