a/c question

a/c question

i dont have a my a/c hook up on my ss is there away to get rid of the compersor mine on my car is going bad and i did not know if anyone on here ever got rid of there and how they did it with running the belt

just strip the casing and the guts and leave the front pulley bracket and bearing to run the belt as an idler. thats what GM did with the Cobalt race cars

^^ yep. It is way more trouble to try and completely remove it. Just gut it.

while we are on the a/c subject, when i turn mine on it smells like mildew what could this be? BTW didnt mean to jack this thread i just didnt see a point of opening a new one

Mine does that every time I turn it on. Not sure what it is.

so what do i do if the pulley itself is bad. its making a grinding noise. like the bearings are going bad... are the compressors the same on all the cobalts. cause i dont wanna have to buy the whole thing to gut it and use the bearing assembly.
