cai decision

picked up a second job at a local garage so in about two weeks the parts will start coming in for the cobalt. i hate even reading a question like this, and now i am going to ask. i need to decide on an intake i like the fujita but they seem to be the most expensive, i have also heard a few people pulling cels from them, if its not true let me know thats why i am starting this thread. i have heard the AEM is an excellent buy, no cels and its alot cheaper. let me know what you have guys and if your pulling cels. i dont care how minor the cel is i dont want and cant have them popping up

Toss a coin on getting a CEL with any CAI. Threw only 1 on our Fujita and cleared it in 5 seconds and it never came back. No big deal.

Most go with Injen, they fit great and are least known to turn on the CEL light. Fujita's fitment is not that great and the CEL does sometimes come on.

Get the fujita off ebay. Offer the guy 150 and he might accept. I read that he did for someone. I offered him 220 a while ago when it was priced higher and he accepted. You might have a fitting problem and might have to cut the pipe but its worth it for the best intake. Fujitas sendin me one with a new filter.

false statement.. its all in the installation..
i have had 0 problems what so ever with my fuji you just have to use some common sense when installing to get rid of the "push" that all intakes give.

0 cells since ive had it.. only time i have seen cells with a fuji is b/c it was not a complete "closed" suction..

about 3 weeks ago i bought my injen cai from turbotech and it's one of my fav mods to the car. it could just be me but i think i notice just a slight diff in the pull, seems to be a lil stronger but the main reason for me buyin one was for the whine of the s/c and holy crap did it work.

my friends who have heard me go anywhere around them always hear my s/c now that i have that on there if i give it gas. i have the corsa performance exhaust and that used to be what they heard before but i guess now the whine drowns that out almost completely now, well worth the money imo.

if you are looking for gains i couldn't tell you what i got from that but i for sure haven't had any problems after putting that on and it was fast delivery and super easy install

How did yours fit? I pushed mine in all the way and the fender didnt fit. You should check your fender for a hole.

Can you explain what the push that all intakes give and what do you mean by complete closed suction?

Theres a how to on how to make your fujita fit right. it involves cuttin your pipe to make it a lil shorter. It also says to make a bracket so your tire doesnt burn a hole through your fender and eventually your intake pipe. There was someone who checked their fender after they read it and saw a hole in the fender. I think you should do the same.

K&N FTW. I've had my K&N on for 2 weeks and i've "fully tested" it and have not gotten a CEL or any bad side effects. I like it a lot.

I've had the bootleg Injen from eGay. No complaints, fits like a champ and it only cost me $65.

An intake will make very little to no power over the airbox mod. From there, which intake you choose has a lot to do with which you think looks and sounds the best. I got an AEM because I wanted something that looked stock, was quiet most of the time, and got loud (but not insanely loud) when I floored it.

Hey guys, this is probably stupid.

This is my first time putting in a cai, I bought an AEM cai and i just received it and it just came with an extension pipe about 6 inches that i just ad to the bottom of the stock intake pipe. I was under the impresion that it came with one long polished aluminum pipe and not an ad on.

I was just wondering if that's how they come or did i screw up somewhere.

i have seen people cut the piping..
i simply pushed the Filter farther up the tube before tightening down the clamp.. that got rid of 95% of the push on the fenderwell that we all were dealing with at the time on intakes..the filter is pushing.. not the pipe.. so wha-la.. push the filter up a little more.. either way its suckin in the same air.. it doesnt need 4 inches poking out beyond the end of the pipe to be effective...

i swapped tires to a 225/40/18 since my stock finally went crappo on me and i have absolutly 0 tire rub at all and no weird "push" out that can be seen on alot of cobys...

That is how the AEM comes. It is stealthy, quiet under cruse, and won't produce a cel.

You guys mean a hole like this? Fujita on a 2007 is a POS fit period. Between the 45 degree couple hitting the brake lines bad and crushing up the coupler (brake line junction is a differnet routing and position from the 05/06's and it hits), the tube hits against 3 other places and needs rubber padding, and not fitting in the fender no matter how much I pushed or used/didnt use the vibration mount bracket its just not good.

Soon as I have some time im gonna get out cutter, hammer and tubing bender and make it fit, but to pay that much money and have something fit as crappy as it ddoes is a bad product with no research from the manufacturer from year to year to make sure it still fits correctly.
