I am starting to think the same thing, I am just having problems figuring out a few things here "I plan on spending some money on mods and would like to get the best bang for my buck":
1) Should I go with a new Injen CAI or just simply put in a high flow filter will I get the same hp gain from doing just the filter "also I find removing the bottom of the airbox unacceptable would be a violaton of my warranty"
2) Should I remove my catallyc converter or replace it with a high flow cat.... I could care less about emissions I would just like to know if removing the cat will cause me to throw a CEL or not.
3) GMPP exhaust manifold ?? How much and where can I buy.
I will not risk going further than intake and exhaust simply because thats all my dealership will warranty me for " I have a nice dealership ", as far as the rest GM performance packages 1 & 2 , I would love to get them yet I honestly feel like they will not be availble for month if at all. Seams like one of those things that are just too good to be true....

If we talk about true HP gains and speaking only of performance (not arguing the look or the style or the sound), all those three doesn't worth it.
1: A CAI won't give you a single more HP than a K&N drop-in high flow filter.
2 : Replacing the catback is useless on our car until you plan to go more than 300 whp. The speed shop I know dyno tested two Cobalt SS/SC with ZERO HP gain.
3 : GM extrude honey manifold only flow a very very small percentage more than the stock.
Get your rear mufller replaced with a Magnaflow, get a smaller supercharger pulley.

THank you for the informative post I no longer plan on removing my cats, and you mention that a cai will give me the same gain as a high flow filter is this true even if I leave the bottom of the airbox on, since leaving it off would be a warranty issue.
