CAI Question
CAI Question
I am in the market for buying a CAI mostly because it is a good starting place and quite simply because I want to hear my SC a little better. Haha.
Sooo I have been doing my research and have pretty much withered my options down to the Black Injen or the ZZP 3". The problem I am having is FINDING the ZZP 3" CAI. What is everyones opinions and can anyone post a link directly to the place to buy the ZZP CAI? (yes I have tried checking their site directly but i think i am missing something.)

I have had almost every intake under the sun (air box mod, XTC 3", AEM, Rebel 3", and Injen). There was hardly a difference between any of them other than fitment, quality, and size. Power was pretty much the same between all of them. I re-installed my AEM intake after running the Rebel 3" for a few months, and noticed no change in power (none). I now run the Injen, and I'm very happy with how the car runs. Still no difference in power than my other intakes, but it is a nice piece.
OP-Purchase what ever intake you want, but dont think it is going to unleash this huge amount of power, or that a 3" will make a huge difference over a 2.75" intake (it wont). All intakes for the LSJ produce about 7-10whp on avg., and make the blower whine louder. That's it. Real power is to be had through the tune, exhaust, and fueling.

V1 used to hit the hood strut. V1 was also a bit longer than V2.
Snap a photo if you can. I'll be able to tell you which version you have.
This is my V2 Injen. It has zero fitment issues. It doesnt even mess with my break lines (common 07' SS/SC intake fitment issue).

My Injen has the flatspot with a logo so it doesn't hit. I'm waiting to get my tune tweaked to see if we can get rid of the jumpy idle it has, assuming that came from the Injen.

ZZP does not like the Injen intake, and made up some nonsense that it causes idle issues. I have zero idle issuse with mine. Actually, I have never had idle issues with any of the intakes I've tested.

I heard that about the injectors but figured it was the intake. For a pretty decent company they do talk a lot of **** to try and sell their parts. I have the same intake as you but I didn't get the big sticker/plate you have "tuned" where did you get that from??

They started installing that plate when they switched over to Amsoil EA Nanofiber filters. Injen used to use oiled filters.
You can't blame ZZP for trying to sell their parts. They do make good parts, but to make up false info is kind of rediculous.

ZZP is re working their 3" intake, so it will actually fit 2007 SS/SC's. I'm not sure how well OTTP's intake fits 07's, but ZZP's new one looks like it maybe pretty nice (3" all 1 piece).
I think I am starting to lean more towards the Injen. It isn't a big deal but the ZZP seems to look really plain. Anyone have a picture of the ZZP installed? And does anyone have a picture of the black Injen installed? Thanks a lot for the help guys.

The black injen will look just like mine installed. Just black, haha.
I'm actually thinking about replacing the one I have with the new one, I don't like looking at it through my fender well liner >.>

I have an Injen in my 07 and I do have some fitment issues (no idle problems though). If I could do it all over again I would go with ZZP or someone else who has proven to have no fitment issues. That said, I couldn't agree more on the post about power. Almost all of the intakes for this car will make the same modest power gains and increase the sound of your engine/blower. Anyone who can "feel a difference" is a heck of a lot more sensitive than I am.
What issues did you guys have with fitment with the Injen? Maybe because I had the whole front end off my car at the time but it went on without a problem. I know everyone says it rubs on the hole, which I'm going to check mine out when I can remember, but if you put the rubber ring on you sould be fine.

I had zero fitment issues with my Injen.
The new version (V2) fits very well if you take your time installing it.
It should not rub anywhere if it's installed correctly.

Exactly, I was nervous once I read all the complaints about it but like you I had no problems. Only thing I don't like is the crappy red Injen badge. Looks like something off an old hotrod.
