CAI Question

Let me start off be saying that I am mechanicly retarted. I want to put a K&N CAI on my 07 SS/SC. Would Gm install it for me or some other parts shop? Does it void the waranty? Or is it possible that I may be able to do it myself? Thanks

Thats a good question. I don't think it will void your warranty unless its the cause of a problem. But then again, I dont' know any thing.

Go to a local speed shop or performance shop, i think the dealer will rape you on labor, and try some type of warranty bs about aftermarket parts.

If you lived in PA I would do it for you for free. I would also teach you how to uninstall it in case you needed too. Do you have any freinds who could help you out?

I do, im sure they could do it, but their solution for mounting or securing anything involves zippy ties, so i have lost some trust in their quality. But they help out with smaller projects like lights, neons and switches. is installing a cai difficult, because I could always have them help.

Its really not difficult, just remove the driver side front wheel, take out the splash guard, and its pretty self explanatory from there... There are a few threads with pictures of the install, and all of the CAI's will be along the same lines. Do it yourself!

Do it yourself. its time you man up and learn how to take out a couple bolts and relocate a thing or two.

even if its your first time, it will take you no time.

Guess I can give it a try. besides if something goes wrong, i will put the stuff back on and tell gm it broke on its own and i want it fixed lol. Oh yeah, for my car I have an air box in the spot I want to put the intake right? Whats the difference between the 2 and do i just remove the air box and replace it with the intake? And i heard I should use a dry flow filter...

With a cold air intake, you'll replace the air box and the tube up to the supercharger. The airbox is removed...

See if you can find the instructions or a how to for doing the install, you'll get the idea

i agree. this was my first DIY project, ever. now look at me... i ported my own blower, installed my own springs, injectors, pulley, spark plugs, brake pads, etc. it's easy, and rewarding to do it yourself
