The CAI thread
The CAI thread
I'm starting this thread in hopes of it becoming a sticky so we don't have to sift through 20 CAI threads everyday. I propose that if you bought a CAI for your 2.0 SS S/C, write what brand it was, the year of your car, and your feelings about it. Was it easy to install? Look good? Good price? Where did you buy it? Did you feel a difference? Also dyno's or hp numbers would be helpful.
I will also be the first to add to the thread...
I have a 2006 SS S/C, and I bought a black Injen CAI from TurboTechRacing.com. I paid about $210 for it shipped to my door and arrived in 2 days. The install was not difficult, but it took a lot of time for me to get it to fit correctly without pushing the bumper out. I know many people were not able to fix that problem at all. Another thing to be cautious of is scraping the intake on the grounding bolt right behind the driver's side headlamp.
Once it was installed, the supercharger whine sounded great, much louder than before. I did not dyno my car before the CAI, but after only that modification I dyno'd at around 230hp on a mustang dyno. I am very satisfied with this CAI and would highly recommend it to others to purchase for the price and performance.

Car Trim: 2005 SS/SC
CAI: K&N
Install: Scratched up the intake while installing it. The hole to put the intake tube through is just too small. It barely fit. Had to twist it in order for it to get in. It doesn't rub against anything. It does sit on an angle however but nothing to be worried about.
Opinion: I think it makes the supercharger sound great!!! HOWEVER, CEL!!!! lol. I recieved it the second day after getting it installed.

2006 Sunburst SS/SC. Still running the famous airbox mod. Very easy to install, effective, and only costs $30USD. Never taken my car to a dyno. Maybe after stage 2, once it is installed I'm done with my plans for power adding mods and will be moving to the suspension and brakes.

CAI: Injen Polished.
Looks great except for when installing it i scratched it on the grounding bolt! Otherwise Fitment sucks big time it rubs against the bumper, and I was aware of this before i bought it. The only reason i bought this over the K&N is because i dont have a CEL(knock on wood), and if it turns on ill be selling it
