you have to time the actual cam sensor, there should be a mark on the lobe tha goes into the cam and the housing line them up then install with cylinder 4@ top dead center on compression

crank sensor

1.Rotate the crankshaft until number 4 piston is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke
2.Align the timing mark on the housing with the timing mark on the hex shaft
3.Install the camshaft position sensor housing

thats all you'll need to do buddy

You just have to be careful w/ that cause you can f*ck up the security module. Dealership did it to my car, lol...

No your putting #1 on TDC probably which is your problem!

#1 is TDC and you can tell by looking at the cam gears, the intake side is pointing at 2oClock and the exhaust side is at 10oClock.. THAT IS #1.....

#4 is when they're at TDC and the Cam gears are not in the position I described.

sorry for co-signing the revival and going off topic :P

I want to use a cobalt lsj cam sensor on my L61 as I'm using a standalone ecu which can't read the L61's compression sense thingy. I realise it's on the exhaust cam and the L61 exhaust cam is short but I'm actually using a saab head and cams (long like the LSJ).
Could someone explain a little about how the cam sensor connects to the cam? I read somewhere about hex drive, but also something about needing to be "pressed on".. If anyone has some photos of it that would be great

BTW, I'm in europe before you ask why I'm using this engine configuration
