You're not going to Eat up an EVO with the stage kits.

AWD > FWD

Yep, Whooping on RSX's and Civics is getting old. In stock form we can run with Mustangs but with the stage kits the SS/SC will be taken to a new level of performance.

hell yes

i agree ive heard that the stage 2 will be 265 at the wheels.
with a curb weight of 2300 lbs the SS is gonna move.
Ill agree with you that 4 wheel drive is better from a dig but for $10,000 dollars less ill be happy with my 265 hp Cobalt SS!

Yeah. They ran CF hood, trunk, front fasia, roof, center of spoiler, and doors. They also ripped out all the seats, carpeting, sound dampening, A/C, and stereo equip. Not exactly a daily driver.

Lol, its gonna take more power than that, and alot more traction to take down Evos and STIs. But I like the way you think. Shoot for the stars or whatever.

A stock STI runs 13 flat. Thats tested time and personal witness time. I dunno how much power its gonna take for a SS to run that even with slicks.

Yeah, best of luck with that...

I love my SS S/C and all but it's going to take a hell of a lot more than the stage kits to run down EVOs and STIs...

still tho i mean all this talk about how much potetalthe ss/sc has y dont anyone think about puting it to use i mean they dont say that it can get 500+ hp with stock components but with mods to make them feel all gooy in side lol i mean if all this talk and prep for the stage kits and new mods coming out i think the ss/sc has great potental just needs a lil mechanical mad scientist to take the parts and built a fearce chevy racer cuz if all these new mods and parts arnt gona create hp and f.lbs then wat are we wasting are time on a non tunable cars if u call ur self so called tuners i mean if u are a true tuner then u will think of ways to run with the big boys instead of sitting around talking about aw yea i beat this honda that had exhaust and an intake i mean how hard is that we do that stock its time to step it up a notch but i guess im just talkn out my ass or im really in to street/tuning dunno about others but yea peace

You mean potential? That's going to take a hell of a lot of work to make the SS/SC a car worthy of competing against Evos and STis all around. Hell it's going to need the full treatment (stage kits, i/h/e) just to get in the neighborhood of a STOCK Evo or STi, let alone a modded one.

I'm sure it can be done, but can it be done on a car that's still a daily driver, probably not. It's not.

So you have to resort to drastic measures to be a "tuner"? That makes no sense. A "tuner" car to me is a car that can be mildly modded and still be a daily driver. Anything beyond that is a race car, not a tuner car. If all you care about is power, then by all means go for it but to refer back to a favorite saying among my friends - "Any ******* can make a car that goes fast in a straight line." I could care less about drag strips and 1/4 mile times.

It would walk a stock evo from a roll id bet, considering they lose a lot of power due to the all wheel drive, as for the new Evo MR, I dont know, i havent seen the numbers, but maybe, they have like 286 stock...... As for the WRX, a regular, for sure, you could walk it from a roll now with an intake on a cooler day, the STI, i dont forsee that happening unless you have a lot of money, and do an engine swap to a 2.2 with a big turbo, or wait for a turbo kit for the 2.0, if they make some pistons that would drop the compression, you can boost the **** out of it, im pretty sure they make them for the 2.2, as all the Cobalt drag cars are running those motors with huge turbos, and massive amounts of boost...... im still excited, the car is fast now...... you can take 350 zs in them, i have, traction is the issue though...... there has to be an answer for the traction issue, im thinking about getting new tires in the spring, a set of the bf goodriches that are found on the srt4, they have awesome ratings, and look to be a good tire, im only keeping mine on the road for the spring summer and fall so i dont care about all seasons, or winter tires...... cost way to much

Well I don't live a Fast 'n' Furious lifestyle but I'm going to purchase stage 1 only then add my own sized pulley, but not because I'm into street racing, but because I'm into SCCA. I've kind of grown out of that straight and narrow and been sucked into curves. Don't get me wrong every now and then I like to get on the highway drop 3rd and WHIINNNNNNNNEEEE to about 100mph but other then that I drive the speed limit and try to obey all traffic laws...

And as for Honda's, I beat them all the time doing 3rd gear pulls from ~25mph to about 45mph.... I think you should focus more on the SRT-4 and (modified) Mustang GT's 01+.

i agree with you vamp, im going to get my scca lisence next year i think, i am also going to purchase one of those 125cc racing carts next summer, i really want to race when i get older, so i figured id start now...... I have been on the track before, at pocono speedway in penn. i tell you i have never had so much fun, it was seriously a 48 hour adrenaline rush, i was so tired the monday after that weekend...... best part is there is no police, and no speed limits.......

I know EVOs are all wheel drive and all but the 276hp ones only have 233whp. I am sure their torque is up there but with a stage two, intake and maybe a header we could give an evo an damn good run. The stage 2 kit alone is suppost to give you 245whp......well from what they say. And as far as the STi, that puts out around 265whp but that sucker is all wheel drive as well so that one might give you some trouble.

Yeah the best part has the be the lack of police, otherwise you just end of like FLCobalt, bunch of tickets, high insurance, and probably going to lose his licence. I was at a country gas station today and a police officer was checking out my car, so I hung out and chatted a bit, he told me about a lake road they just built just a little north of where we were and offered to show me where it was. I was so confused but turns out it's closed to the public currently but there's a backroad in that no one blocked off. It was so fresh that they haven't even painted the lines yet. The road is about 10 miles of high gforce turns at a max speed of 70mph. Then straights that I reached over 130mph on before breaking for the next turn. It had everything, hair pins, right angel turns, s curves, it was the most fun I've ever had. This kind of goes against my first post but I consider this an exception
