Car feeling sluggish after 2.8 install

Okay, I just installed my Pulleyboy's 2.8 yesterday along with disconnecting the negative battery terminal for the ECU relearn. Maybe I just need to wait a few days for the ECU to get right? It feels like it has lost power since Stage 2. I know it's working right because I'm making 17+ PSI. Let me know your thoughts

You should be running colder plugs.

For a couple days after unhooking my battery after experimenting with air filters my car was embarassingly slow and terribly slugish.

Now it's fast as hell. I think the ECM is just a very slow learner.

The ecu learns one thing, fuel trims. Fuel trims have no effect on WOT driving.

In short the something else is wrong if it's sluggish.

Umm...did you put in some larger injectors? You should be running at least 50lb injectors on a 2.8 that goes to 7,000rpm.

Make sure your Sparkies are gapped... 42.5 lb/hr Injectors should suffice even if you don't go to 7000 RPM redline --- the car should not be sluggish getting there.

I have 42.5lb injecotrs, and 7k redline, my injectors have never been maxed out, everything works well with the set=up with hp tuners.

becarefull with what your sayin about that....

totaly depending on your tune a 2.7 is MORE then able to max out the 42.5lb injecters.

with my current tune...with 2.7/42.5lbs i'm at 115% duty cycle up high.

but its dependent on how agressive you went with your tune....lil fyi if nothing else.

Yes.

As I said before. With the 2.8 you should be running at least a 50lb or so.

It is a very aggresive tune, and there not maxed out, we have done many runs with the hp tuners monitoring it, and its fine, it all depends on how you tweak the car.

a 2.8 will max out 42.5 injectors above 6500 which is why we offer a 2.9 with our stage 3 kit and 60lb injectors with pulley sizes smaller than 2.8.

Wait....I thought 42.5 lb/hr injectors were good until ~290 whp. (I saw it somewhere on this site) How much can the 42.5 injectors handle whp wise? I just installed mine today and want to install my 2.8 next week with a 7000 rpm rev limit...which u guys are saying will be maxing out the 42.5 ers ??

Whoever's idea it was to rate injectors by horsepower level need be shot in the head. It involves BSFC, rail pressure, air density, etc. Do the math. Listen to the people who know. And just do what they say. By leaning out your injectors the car will actually try to run richer by default. Which obviously can't happen, so it is probably pulling timing. Is this an Intense tune or just a straight HP Tuners tune? Because I bet the Intense is more in depth on what they remove/modify. Put the 60s in there and you will never have to worry about it again. But at that point you might as well get the 2.5 also. Just my two cents.
