It may not be the filter completely. just think about it, your engine shouldnt be sucking down water like a fat kid on a hot summer day

I think when you got your MAF wet , it may have damaged it , or maybe the MAP sensor on top of the supercharger could be damaged as well ? I am thinking you are refering to reduced engine power mode when you say limp mode ? This can occur when there is a correlation in air reading based on the MAF , TPS , and Map sensor , meaning one is reading more or less than the other repetitively (more than once) than it should at a given point based on the readings the other 2 are showing . Basically the occasional jerking is becasue something is wrong , and when it sees it a few times it will put the car into reduced engine power mode until you shut the car off for a few minutes and start it back up . You should probably just bite the bullet and take it to the dealer and have them fix it , otherwise it could get much more costly .
