car probs

ok i copied this from the forum im on so hope you understand it..just to let you know all i have is an aem intake, and a 2.5 resonator and muffler and that's it, everything else is stock still...

yesturday around 7ish i rev'd my car and then my spedometer guage, rpm guage wouldn't work and the car sounded like it was struggling to stay alive. When i turned it off and back on after waiting 5 mins it stayed the same and when i started in 1st gear, it felt like it was choking and i would be reving normal to start off and then in a split second it sounded like i was redlining the gear and then when shifted into 2nd it would slowly pick up and then 3rd it would be normal but my guages wouldn't work at all. So i kept driving for about 15-20 mins and then my spedometer guage would work again but my car would be starting off slowerer then ever and my backfiring was just insane, it was just poping every single time i shifted each gear or let go of the gas and with my exhaust, everyone can hear my car being on and this time it sounded like a old muscle car where you'd hear the car engine for a second and then go silent and repeat itself and then just go quite where you wouldn't hear the engine or anything coming out of the exhaust at all. So I did take my car to the dealership to do a scan but they claimed that since i don't have the original intake, they can't do anything for me and i've told them and my service guy is fully aware that last year when i had about 10000 less clicks in my car, the engine was fine with the aem intake i have and now they are trying to say they can't do anything unless its back to normal. I've also had several problems with the car where it my dash lights would go off and so would my guages for a split second, but the high beam indicator would turn on and then turn itself off and go back to normal. But my high beams would never go on themselves, just the indicator and my boost guage would still work. It even kept working yesturday. When i did take the car in last week about some issues, they said there was an update for problems like this and then poof i get this weird problem yesturday. Any idea's of what it could be or why it's doing this?? I just don't want to take my car to murray's again and have them add about 30+ clicks in my car and then say they couldn't do anything to my car after 8 hours.

im aware that apparently gm can void my warranty since i have a different filter/intake on the car but come on now, thats a lot of bullshit if you ask me if they do that. I have 54000 clicks on the car roughly and about 6000 kms left before the 60 k warranty is up and im wondering if you can help me out with options on what to do. If i should go straight to gm headquarters and right a letter or call them or what b/c i dont want to be stuck with a car that's been perfectly fine up until about 2000 k's ago when i 1st got limp mode and then i got this other type of limp mode...and no help from gm dealerships..

just take the intake off and put the old one on, there not hard to put on, and its you car running like **** worth having the intake on for that day?

they want the stock one on so they can eliminate that being a possable cause of your problems

Take it somewhere to get scanned other than the dealer. Or disconnect both battery cables and touch them together to clear the memory, if you dont have a stiffining cap in the car for stereo. This will clear the memory, sounds like you may have a missfire, but its hard to tell off of the description you gave us. If so it may end up being spark plugs....these engines dont like to be revved up like that especially if they are cold.

everytime i took my car into the dealership they would knock my aem intake off and not even know it which would throw it in limp mode, I would check to make sure it is still connected which would maybe help with limp mode...just a thought...

oh i know but what other problems could it be do you think? b/c thats basically what happened or what i was doing and what came out of it and the car was running for about 45 mins fine and everything was warmed up pretty good so i dont see why it would do that..i called gm headquarters to let them know about me being denied b/c of an intake thats 2 years old and they find it very strange since the dealership should have done something atleast other then add about 30 clicks to my ride..so they aren't happy with my dealership which is awesome but who knows what i'll get out of it..

who cares how long its been on, if you want them to do free work just do what they say, take the intake off and put the old **** back on, take to them, they fix w/e the hell is wrong and you drive the car home and put the aem back on

or take it to a diffrent shop and pay for the work and parts

or fix it yourself and pay for the parts

or just give up and let the car destroy itself, your call buddy
