Maybe spark plugs, MAF sensor, or the throttle body... not sure though just my guess

I think I remember a how to on this about cleaning the throttle body to clear up this very problem. I have a 2.2 but it's doing the same damn thing. I tried to find the link but I suck at using this damn seach engine.

Okay...so it only happens when the a/c is on. I would think that would make it a power draw issue. I don't think cleaning the t/b will help but it may, that smooths out rough idle when you idle at a stop; I'm thinking voltage problem; why not try a voltage stabilizer? No...I'm completely serious. 30 bucks couldn't hurt???

That's if you don't have hp tuners to fool around with idling rpm (ie raise it).

It acts like it wants to stall, but then it comes back up, right?

Unfortunately, its just something these cars do. If mine did it more often or it bothered me, I'd look into adjusting the A/C torque settings in HPT, so the car could better handle the extra load when you disengage the clutch. I would say to try and not worry about it, I've yet to see a fix for it.

my car used to do it real bad then i took off the throttle body which is like 4 bolts then i got trottle body cleaner and cleaned it out. it stopped doing it and now only some times every once in a while if the a/c is on full blast and i let off the clutch slow and let the rpm's dip to much and don't force a little extra gas it could stall or get close

so i'd be better to pull of the tb and clean instead of leaving it on and try to clean it?

i'd clean the throttle body if i were you. see what happens. if you like the results you fixed your problem like i did with mine. if you fail. take it apart make sure you clean it really good. then if you still have problems. idk what else to say

I have the same problem but only when the car is cold. Once it gets up to operating temp it stops. When the motor idles down like that though, it shuts off the AC for a couple seconds which makes it take forever for the air to get cold. I have to tell you, that sucks ass down in Texas where the average day is 102...
