i changed the plugs before it dyno tuned, yes. i just got off the phone with Matt. he told me to check the vacuum hoses to the manifold, check the injectors, plugs again, and some other things to check. maybe even get a compression test.

well, first thing i was thinking when i was reading this thread was. upper and lower intake manifold gasket set. if one of those are damaged. then itll **** coolant into the block and the biggest thing you wanna be cautious of is spinnig out a bearing on the bottom end of the motor. a few things that are know to cause this problem

running a high octane gasoline when not needed.
dexcool

i know, i know its a sad event that dexcool - suposedly better than regular coolant eats away at gaskets all the time. most all of motors from gm starting in 99 all have this common problem.
Engines with this known problem:
3100 series
3400 series
3800 series (supercharged or n/a)
4.6 truck motor (bore and stroked 3800)

now the ecotec's were pretty dexcool stable, but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen.

if a car has a missfire upon start, i turn it off and back on. sort of a... "OK, Let's try this again". if it continues after the next two restarts, i find a new way to get where i need to be.

the old plugs seemed to be in good shape still, i ended up putting them back in last night. i am running NGK 2 step colder plugs. 3 out of 4 plugs that i pulled last night looked to be in good condition, but the #4 plug was covered in black. this plug came from the far right when looking at the front of the car, which i believe is the #4 cyclinder.

OUCH! thanks man, i really appreciate the info. ok so you think that it was going before the tune, that's kind of good cause i really dont want to blame and point fingers at Matt, i thought and still do think they did a great job. it really sucks cause the car only has 30k miles on it, but i have been running this set up on a crappy tune for a while before i took it up to Matt.

it could have been on it's way out before. then again, it could be a fluke thing too.

yea it is hard to say. cuz it was running perfectly fine, just rich before the dyno tune. maybe the new tune just pushed the limits too far and it went. i haven't heard anything from the shop, but i'll keep you posted. unfortunately i can't get it warrantied because of all my mods they'll void it.

that sir is a line of pure bullshit, fresh, hot, stinky bullshit.

if you find a good, cooperative dealer, they will warrenty anything!

it makes the dealer money, pays the techs, and most of all, keeps people busy!

i would highly suggest takeing what ever "easy" mods you have off and takeing the bitch in.

i had my brakes covered with a turbo hangin out back.

well first of re-re they are a wearable item, thus they do not have to be covered.

2nd off, the simple fact that the car was there for work, under warrenty with just as many mods any on out there and a fairly obvious one hanging off the motor proves the point that any thing can and will be covered with the rite dealer.
