Cat or no Cat

Is there an advantage of getting a downpipe with no cat or does it not really matter.

There is an advantage, exhaust gas exits faster and it frees up horsepower, cats suck. NO CATS FTMFW!!!!!!!!!!!

Airflow will be the difference, obviously he DP without the CAT will inrease flow..... Without a CAT you will fail emissions. But w/e you dont have them for 5 years.

It will sound very raspy without the cat, so be prepared for that if you decide to go cat-less.

I have a stock resonator and magnaflow muffler and it sounds good. There are 4 codes that will come up sometimes 2 or 3 at a time. HPT takes care of that.

LOL, that's me! And yes it does. Getting the full 3" exhaust to see if it changes at all.

Save all the " 3" is way too big and it wont have enough back pressure!" comments please.

yeah, at least without a cat I would add a resonator in its place to help a little because without a cat my car sounded like a chainsaw.

Around here in California cops are well known for checking for a removed cat and will write the ticket and a mandatory $2500 fine. I know several people that have got the fine, gone to court to try and get out of them and the judge didnt budge. $2500 smackers they had to pay for tampering/removing smog emission device and then on top of that put on the list to have car emission checked every year.

Los Angeles as well as several other larger cities in the USA now have portable roadside monitors set up on freeway entrances that measure your emissions. You drive through with no cat spewing emissions and your picture gets taken and you get a letter to have your car in and tested.

You guys that feel the need to go catless for a few measley HP go for it. Those of you who post you are catless with a license plate showing in pictures beware, some boards are roamed by govt snoops or just plain party poopers looking to turn someone in for some tattle reward. Our Z06 board has had quite a few people nailed from snoops turning people in with their plate numbers to local authorities for running no cats or non legal engine stuff that fails testing.

Running without a cat means your car is putting out over 100x as much toxic substances as you do with a cat. That is very bad considering how nasty the smog is in larger cities already.
