cat vs. non cat.
I was wondering from peoples knowledge or experience would it be more beneficial to have a cat or not? I'm thinking it would be better to have one due to the need for back pressure but I'm not completely posotive so any answers or insight would be appreciated.

Exhaust back pressure is a myth. The velocity of your exhaust gasses is important. When 1 cylinder fires, it creates a vacuum which helps to scavenge or draw the next exhaust pulse out of the engine. This is why a header with 1 5/8 primaries and a properly designed collector will perform better on our car than a 1 3/4 inch header for street use.
A good high flow cat like the Magnaflow flows about 40% more air than stock. Yes it will slow the velocity down somewhat for all-out, full-throttle track applications. But for street use, you won't notice any performance difference. True, it's a little more expensive than a straight "test pipe", but when you consider the gains to the environment, plus the fact that you don't have to worry about getting a ticket for no converter, I think it's money well spent.
Oh yeah, high flow cats tend to rattle a little when brand new, but after a week or two of driving they quiet down.

Get rid of the Cat. Its at good for at least 10 WHP on a stock car. But be prepared to get a check engine light every once in a while, unless you have HP tuners to disable the code.

Taking the cat off will give you some gains. But the car is really loud and sounds like crap. Unless you take it off and put on the corsa touring exhaust then it sounds really good. Im speaking from experience.

I'd definately go with a high flow cat vs none at all. They're pretty cheap... and they do a big part to cut the amount of pollution put out by our cars, which is really important.
Plus, if your state has emissions laws... taking off the cat will put you in violation... so kiss that goodbye.

i plan on going catless and getting an o2 simulator, i just dont know what header i want yet. ive heard good things about the weapon r but i dont know. i have the corsa sport exhaust, ive heard the touring one without the cat and it sounds good so im assuming mine will be a little bit louder.

Well within my car's emission's limits. ADN this is with a lumpy ass cam, intake, TB, larger injectors, headers, head work. Basically everything but the bottom end has be nodified adn I passed emissions without cats. If your honestly wanting to remove teh cat go for it. But remember when it comes time for a visual you best have one there.
