You can avoid a code for $5, it's called the spark plug anti-fouler trick.

Google it.

Or HPT it out. I went back to stock and still have the catless DP, no room for the anti-fouler's so I bought a angled o2 block a guy the VW forum machines, amazing piece.

Tell me how I passed then? No cat. No code. Passed emissions. So you will not automatically fail. Try being a smartass elsewhere

Some places only check for codes, so if you tune out the rear o2, you would pass. However, if you are catless and you get the sniffer test, you are screwed.. 100%. No way you would be able to pass.

Change your 100%. I passed Sniffer as well
Then the inspector wasn't using the machine correctly, or didn't give a ****. This is not a childish argument. I am telling you, there is no way in hell you will pass a proper sniff test. The whole point of it is to detect unusually high levels of unburned crap, (for lack of a better word), coming from your exhaust, crap that the cat is supposed to burn up. So if there is no cat to burn it up, then it is going right out the exhaust. Point and case.

Trust me, catted and catless is a MONSTER difference in the chemicals that get released from the exhaust.

thank you. i completely agree. i dont even see how you could pass without a cat. if you could pass without a cat what would be the point of having a cat. its called EMISSIONS TESTING for a reason. it isnt called CODE testing. having a thrown code makes the car run less efficient therefor causing more emissions causing you to fail. but if your cat is gone completely i dont understand how you could pass. because you cannot.
pass the sniff that is.

Okay, great then. I am not arguing reasoning behind why **** happens with some ignorant kid. If you do not believe me, then great, kuddos to you. I hope you're aware that you are proving science wrong. You must be one smart kid.

I mean ****, by your theory, if you can pass catless, then there really is no reason for cats in the first place, which would defeat the purpose of emissions testing to begin with. Why include a cat on a car if it can pass catless?? Your logic also proves car manufactures wrong. Why would they waste money supplying a part on the car that isn't needed.

Once again, you're one damn smart kid, your parents must be proud.

Great because I'm done arguing with someone who is going to ridicule me because I went from a lower model, (OF THE SAME f#&%ing CAR, MIND YOU), to another.

Oh and hey: NEWS FLASH, CATS WORK THE SAME ON EVERY CAR. Oh wait, you must have that magical Cobalt that can pass the sniffer catless. And go ahead delete your posts to "clean up the thread", or delete them because you finally took the time to do some research and now regret talking out of your ass. Pfft............ Kids.

o found this by the way on the internet. they call it google search. try it out.

Will I pass emissions without a CAT?
Matters on the state. Some places will fail you simply for modifying your exhaust at all. Others will fail you because you have no cats. Others will only fail you if your ODB-II port shows an emissions related CEL. This question is really more what is involved in your emissions testing than anything else.

Sniffer test (directly measures your emissions) - You need a cat and a decent tune to pass
ODB-II check - CEL fixes are all that is needed to pass this.
Visual Inspection - Mattering on how strict the inspector is, you may need a totally stock system to pass or just something that looks like a CAT.
