Re-tune to compensate for it and you'll be fine.

Yeah, if you run catless or a high flow cat, your backpressure changes, so the engine won't be able to compensate without a retune. If you don't tune, you may over time effect your exhaust valves, but mainly you won't see any increase in performance, and will probably notice a decrease at some point in the power band

Dude where do people get these thoughts lol. A catless downpipe will not harm a motor lol. Yeah u will have to retune but not much. Bro I have a catless and the only thing that is different then before is I have a blue / red flame shoot out when I change gear at wot my afrs are 11.3s safe as can be. The only thing I dislike is the cops love to pick on me and there is nothing to burn the unburned fuel.

A catted d.p is not bad it's just easier tuning and better exaust flow. Like I have a 2.6 pulley full exaust with resonator and 3 inch catless d.p and I Will boost to 19 max on a cold day but today's like today I only get 17 because less dense air but I have a freeflowing pump lol (engine). But the point in this reply is boost is not always better ... Boost + flow equals power so I say catless is the way to go I dunno if u understand or not but I am known to ramble on lol e

And by the way by me saying the flame lol my egts are good so I'm not to worried lol. And another is when the car is in open loop meaning it's still cold I will spit some black smoke but just a puff. Un burned fuel

My car looked like a steam engine for all the black smoke on WOT using a GM 3.06" pulley and stage 2 tune... So glad I'm rid of that setup

Until you do, that high flow is just on there for sound, not performance

Lol for some odd reason my car loves flames no joke. I was racing a camaro ss from a dig launched at 1500 and let it rev to 6400 and changed gears and the camaro ss was in front by at least a car because I am spinning while e grabs then I grab and bam I pass him and he sees me later that night and said "hey man do u have spark plugs in your muffler?" becuz in the old days that was how they made flames from there exaust lol. And I said no. Then he said " because your flame is outrageous. I was like wut the fu**. took my egts and they were fine my afrs were good. But ever since I put the catless in I shoot flame like no other. I hate black smoke lol.... On my rear bumper u can see black because in the morning I don't let it set for a bit I just go so I shoot some smoke and flames lol..... Gm stage two tune is richer then hell,,..,,..,. Like sometimes lower then a afr of 10.0 weeeewwwwwww.... So who tunes u? I tune myself . I love hptuners . go catlessssssss u less u live in a small town that hate a exaust note that is louder the a nuke bomb hitting the earth lol

Yep when u do any mod u need to re tune or calibrate the new part.

Yeah the flames are normal, the cat will stop it where as you will see them if you don't have one. They escape when you let off the gas under WOT the injectors fire fuel for a split second longer than the engine fires it, once that hits the hot exhaust you get a brief flame. My GSXR1000 does it too. I got the high flow so I can pass emissions here... they don't sniff your exhaust with a meter, but they check to see if you have a cat installed. As for tuning, I use canned tunes off a buddy of mine, we have several PCM's we swap around, not the best but is sure is convenient.

As to going catless or high flow being all for sound untill tuned, thats false,Lsj's dont have"learn down mode" like the LNF.I ran with a cat @ 15.68 6 times in a row,put the catless down pipe on with same stock tune, same EXACT conditions at the track on same tires and pressures and ran a 15.40.just from a catless dp,thats it,so colby, like i said on MSN do it youll notice the difference

roboticfister please don't give advice if it's wrong... if you don't know don't say

to stoon....

catless will be not harm your engine, considering you are boosted...you do not want back pressure.. and want a clean flow

you do not need to turn or re-tune your car to get gains from being catless.. you will gain right away... on your engine.... for the ss/tc we need a tune... due to learn down feature

to gain more power, from your catless you can tune for even MORE power...

You might be right on some parts but when you add a new part either be meth to just a freaking clutch or even a maf sensor. things do need to be calibrated and tuned so you get the 100% out of your mods.

The downpipe will give you some power but not as much with it tuned

A retune is not mandatory but tuning for the passsed 5 years I recommend it

Do I know the guy that told you that? Cause it's extremely false.
As far as a re-tune... as mentioned by others... not needed, but recommended.

With respect to the sound... it's loud. Did you ever hear mine before I put a cat back in? It was raspy, and had a skull numbing drone.
On a good catback, it's alright though... Ryan's car is catless, and it's pretty decent for noise when cruising.

Noise on the other hand........ Sounds like **** unless it's WOT, then it's loud and sounds GOOD.

The drone is insane. My ears hurt after a 3 hour drive.

Well I've never dyno'd before or after so I can't comment on that, but I know as far as the seat of your pants, I didn't feel anything until I re-tuned.
