supercharger chatter

so what makes the s/c chatter at idle? its really freaking annoying and i feel like its going to fall apart and blow up. it goes away when its boosting, but as soon as it goes back to vacuum it makes the noise.

I'm sure you've already found out how to check it to see for sure if it's the coupler, but in case you didn't, pull the belt off and rapidly twist the pulley left to right - if you feel play or a "loose connection" between it and your blades, it's the coupler.

Another thing to suspect is the belt tensioner, check that for play in both the bearing and the mount.

The timing belt tensioner also screws up like clockwork on these cars, but it sounds more like valve knock/ticking

All three are basicly 100% likely to fail at some point or another. Replace and enjoy!

Are you 100% certain that it is the blower making the noise? My serpentine belt stretched out once and it was causing the tensioner to chatter. Changed the belt and that fixed it. However it only chattered shen you blipped the throttle.
