CEL blinked for a few secs!! Why??? help!!?

i was off to work at 9am. And when i hit 2nd gear the car kinda bogged alittle. And then the cel poped on blinking for 10 secs. Then it went away and the car seemed to run fine with no BOGS. Could this be cause the engine needed to be warmed up. I always get nervous when i see that damn CEL ligtht. And btw i have the intenese ecu with 2.8 pulley and 42.5 injectors if that means anything

From what I've heard a flashing CEL means death is right around the corner. You may want to get this one checked out ASAP.

Flashing is the KEY word.. Not on and back off once.. If its staying on and blinking DONT DRIVE IT..!

It flashes when it determines the engine is in a condition that will damage the catalytic converter. Usually happens from sustained detected misfires.

Could have been poor gas or air in the line, maybe a wiring fault to the injector, anything really. Probably a ECM hiccup though if the light went out immediatly after doing it. It should stay on but not blinking for a couple more drive cycles.

well could it be cause the engine needed to warm up. I mean it wasnt really that cold out, maybe in the 40s-50s. But it happened right away as soon as i left my driveway. And for 14 miles the cel didnt popped up again

what should my next step be? I get hella scared everytime i see that light!!

Mine did this about 3 months ago. CEL flashed a couple times really quick after I bounced off redline on accident. Never was too worried about it. GM cars seem to do it alot. My 04 silverado seemed to randomly flash a CEL quite often.

Just take it up to an Autozone, they'll read it for free, and write down what the code is, and tell us

flashing CEL (not coming on, then going off after a while and coming back on again) is piston misfire.
