chain guide
so i was changing my timing chain ten. and when i went to push on the chain guide to set the tensioner i snapped some of the nylon off it,can i get the side cover off without dropping the motor seems close to the frame, also i doubt it but does anyone have a chain guide
the side cover can be taken off without dropping the motor but I had to take the top engine mount off and lower the engine enough to get the water pump bolt out because it is very long and will not come out fully without lowering the motor.

ok so i found the chain guide part number and i have to replace the balancer bolt and camshaft sprocket bolt, also when timing what colored links on the chain go where
The links are not the same color for all ecotec motors.
On the crankshaft pulley with the timing cover on the motor there is a timing mark at 10-oclock and a notch on the crank just like old school if you line these up your at TDC. Then go ahead and pull the timing cover off and the crankshaft should have a white dot on the sprocket pointing to 5-oclock if you lined the timing marks up. On top the exhaust cam should be set with the exh mark at 10-oclock. The intake cam with the int mark should be at 2-oclock. The colored links will then need to be lined up on all three marks, in a nut shell this is what you’re looking for. Taking the tension adjuster out will still not give you enough slack so by removing the cam sprocket and placing the chain on it then lining the sprocket back up with the chain on it will make it easier. the crankshaft pulley bolt and cam sprocket bolts need to be replaced and tourqed accordingly.

also what should i use to release the timing ten. so i don't break the guide again
last is their anything that i can upgrade with the cover off

no need to take the tensioner out....i actually took my head out today....i smashed my hand twice trying to get the dam tensioner off and said **** it....so i took all the caps off the cams and took a 24mm and stuck on the intake cam near the sprocket and i twisted it back and boom it popped out....much easier and i didnt smash my hand again....lol.....but i guess you need to take it off anyway to get the timing right...well good luck....i cant remember off the top of my head what size bolt that is...but i think its a 27mm for the tensioner....or get a big enough crescent and put some ez grip (aka some kind of grippy substance like spit and dirt....lol) and you should be able to get it off fairly easy....just hope your tool does not slip when your getting it off
