Cleaning the MAF?
Cleaning the MAF?
Hey all... I know this has probably been asked a million times before... but...
I got good ol' P0171 rearing it's ugly head... excess oil/moisture on the MAF... I'm gonna pull it and clean it... then maybe look for an AEM filter to solve this oiling issue once and for all.
What do y'all clean the MAF with anyways? I've got brake/parts cleaner... but I think that would be too harsh.
Thanks!

Use electric contact cleaner, i bought some at home depot in the electrical deparment
Cleaning my MAF didn't stop it from randomly throwing a code with the airbox mod on my car, but i didn't change out filters (i still have a pepboys spectra). I hope it works for you though.

if you must clean it, use one of the sprays listed in this thread https://www.cobaltss.net/forums//showthread.php?t=24773 however, p0171 doesnt necessarily mean the maf is dirty. it's a lean condition code. i dont know what filter you are using but try switching to an aem dry flow or a k&n rather than a cheap spectre filter or whatever. those filters always threw codes when i used them.
