Close Up-Engine Pictures for Swap.
Hey guys,
Well, I"m a new member to this forum, but a j-body owner since 95. To enlighten you guys, i bought my 95 2.2l cavy coupe in 95. Did basic bolt ones till 00, then boosted it till i blew it up in 01. Then went in a 2.4l ld9 swap, w/getrag tranny from a 2001 z24. I completed the ob2 wiring swap, along with welding the new tranny brackets. Car runs great with cams/exh etc, but I want more! Been planning on gm s/c, but with the numbers you guys are putting down with the boosted eco, i want in.
So i'm sourcing out info to see how in depth the 00+ LD9 to 2.0l eco s/c would be. But I need somebody to post some close up pics of the drivers side of the motor (to try to see wiring harness and abs setup), along with the tranny brackets if you can. Or some underside pics of both sides, to see both mounts.
When one comes into the wrecker, i'll be thre to ****** up the whole thing. The beauty is when you buy motor/tranny etc from a really new car that is still under warranty, you can get them for fairly cheap (no demand for them yet). Hence the hole 2k1 setup in 2002 costed me 1500canadian.
Thanks for the help guys!

I am not exactly sure about in Canada but in the US you could swap in an L61 or LSJ and not have to worry about it being OBDII compliant since youve got a 95 chassis/body/VIN.
Finding a wrecked LSJ will be the biggest issue in the swap....I would recommend finding a wrecked 2003-2005 J body with the L61 and F23, use as much of the donor car as possible and you should have no problems. and like I said in the USA the GMLAN used in the LSJ wouldnt be an issue in a 95 since all youd need was a standalone management system tuned to pass emissions.
I actually have an L61 /F23 swap in the works for an '89 Z24.

I could have tried to use stand alone. But in order to use the stock 2k1 pcm/gauge cluster and have the car appear to be stock, i found it easer to swap in the entire 0b2 wiring harness. So now it thinks its a 2k1 z24 w/getrag m86/f23 tranny.
The local yards here get good cars, but yes, will have to wait till they become a little more popular and abundant.
send a link for your l61 swap to see pics.
