Clutch Problems

I just got my SS/SC about a month ago and my clutch is going out pretty bad. I can still accelerate out of first and second if i dont push the throttle too much but if i have to speed up in a hurry for any reason its not going to happen.

At 20 MPH in 5th gear i can push the throttle and it will just fly up in the RPMs and not go anywhere...obviously the clutch is slipping.

I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to clutches hence why i am asking this question.

Exactly what parts do i need? Clutch, Pressure Plate or both?

Thanks in advance!

You need a clutch disk, pressure plate and a throw out bearing. You replace all at once when you do a clutch.

Well first of all when you floor it, don't do it in a high gear. Second of all GMPP clutch is what you want.

^^ This, plus new flywheel (or resurface your old one), flywheel bolts (they're torque to yield, so they're not reusable), pressure plate bolts (cheap insurance), clutch bearing mounting bolts (they're very easy to strip if you aren't careful however not 100% necessary), clutch pipe, 2 bottles of trans fluid and an alignment tool.

I just got the GMPP kit myself for my LSJ swapped 04 Cavalier. I bled it but it still feels pretty light when depressing the pedal...have you installed it yet? My old stage 2+ 6puck clutch I had on my original engine/tranny (F23) set up felt a little stiffer. I did the reverse bleed and it filled up the reservoir pretty quickly..so Im hoping all the air is out of the line. Something doesn't feel right but Im comparing it to a stage2 6 puck clutch..so yeah.

Is this clutch supposed to be pretty light? And you cant beat the price for the upgrade kit on CED compared to even a stock replacement!

The GMPP is very light, just how it is. Works great though.

In the mean time, bleed the clutch fluid to put a little life back into it until you can replace it. I've bled mine about 5 times in 100k miles and its still pretty solid considering the pounding its taken in 6 years.
