Cobalt Addiction Stage Kit Owners!
Hey guys,
Unfortunatly Jon's car is in the shop for a while. The unfortunate, yet very typical, timing chain tensioner problem has happened. But things are a lot worse! The timing chain actually seized out as far as it possibly could go ... . The tension from the chain being so tight actually sheared one of the chain guide bolts right off in the head! So chances are that I will have to put a new head on the car (luckily Jon's car is still under warrenty).
But thats just the start of things, I guess you can say the car is actually on its way from more than just an intake. While i have the whole car apart at work jon got some ideas. I was going to do this stuff while I was putting it back together.
Ideas:
1.) Get the valve cover powder coated a wrinkle victory red at a local place (Premier Powder Coating)
2.) Cobalt Addiction Stage 4 Kit (2.6 P ulley, Plugs, Shorter Belt, 60lb injectors, belt Tensioner, and a CA stage 4 retune)
3.) CA frount mount heat exchanger
4.) B&M Short throw shifter
I guess my main question to any and everyone out there is this; How do you like you CA stage kit? How does it run, how was the kit to put on, was there a noticeable power difference, and is there anything he should have to worry about with the tune or anything else?

He ordered the kit a few days ago i think im just gonna put it on a see whats good. And then i'll have him take it to the dyno and see what his AFRs are. Or convince him into getting a wideband. Unless CA fixed the problem after hearing about the bad rep. Also the elevation where we lives is near the same as the place in NY where they are from, so maybe it won't be too bad?

hi
I've the stage 3 kit from CA for about 3 months running well till now the Only problem i got after installing the kit was the boostgauge wasn't showing what it should but the reason for that problem was my boost gauge which was faulty
after changing it everything is working fine till now

I was the test car on all the stage kits, I had actually set all the tunes to run pretty damn rich too, like low 11's to stay on the safe side. Dunno why that car ran lean, cause all other ones I've talked to or seen were running pretty rich.
But the whole basis of doing this is to have a base tune so you can drive the car safely and eventually get it professionally dialed in.
These cars are different car to car, and different locations make the car react differently so no "boxed" tune will ever be perfect. I just tried to set them up as safe as possible. I dunno which tunes he's using now, as I haven't really been out by them in a while due to a changed work schedule, but I will be speaking to Matt from there tomorrow, so I'll see whats up
