Cobalt SS CANNOT be hydrolocked!?

My cousins SS/sc was stolen and thrown in a lake. Yeah crazy right?
Well they pulled it out, and fixed it, there was only 500$ in damages!
It was under water for around 4 hours.

When they pulled the car out it was still running! Didnt get to talk to the tech for to long but said that there were safety features along with water reservoirs in place to protect the engine. He drove the car and its been about 2 weeks and its still driving perfect.

So if the car completely submerged doesnt flood the engine i dont see how a CAI could cause that to happen.

Cool stuff right?

comments, questions?

CAI doesnt use the stock airbox (unless its a XTC) and thats what pretty much protects the motor

he thought it was going to be a total loss so he bought the SRT 4, but NOPE

not a damn thing wrong with the car and so he gave it to my other cousin ( his brother)

yup 4 hours under water and it was still running. and its still driving like brand new.

It is not possible. No way, no how, unless his cobalt came with an intake that filters the oxygen out of h20.

500 dollars?? wouldnt the upholstery be pretty much ruined along with the electronics? also, lets pretend water didnt get into the intake(i dont know how it wouldnt being it was underwater) but what kept the water from intruding on the exhaust side?

i drove through half a foot of water and the engine DIED. water slowly started rising around the car and soon i was floating. pushed it out and watched everyone elses go under water. this was when my intake was stock. so anyone that says these cars CANNOT hydrolock is full of s***. i dont disbelieve your story, but there was definitely some other factors involved to make that happen, such as air pockets in the engine bay or somewhere else.

oh i forgot, the water only came up to the bottom of my seats and i had to have ALL of the carpet and every SINGLE wire replaced in the car. WAAAAAY more than $500 and i didnt even go under water.

Im telling you, i been on here for over a year i dont have any reason to lie.

His car was Submerged. his interior is covered through warranty. ( as are hour tires and exterior painting + i have lojack)

the whole front end of the car was definately submerged, u could see the grime and dirt from the water when we got to the dealership.

He has insurance on the car of course, and 1000$ dedutibles, his insurance wouldnt pay for it because the damage came up to 594$ or something like that.

He was super pissed they didnt total loss it. but really there was no exterior damage, just some electrical i guess. his bill came up for like 594 i can scan the bill if he still has it.

y would i lie?

again he was completely stock maybe that has something to do with it.

Glad he got his Cobalt back, even if he ended up getting a SRT-4, but as others have said it is impossible for the car to be underwater and run.

And like sstyless18 said, only $500 in repairs? What about the interior, seats, stereo, gauges, pcm, electronics, etc. Something ain't right. By saying it was thrown in a lake I assume it was submerged? If so this is all impossible.

Why would GM cover the interior under warranty after having it submerged underwater?

Come on you guys, I expected more from this fine .net crew we have here.

Cars can't run under water. It takes oxygen and fuel to keep it running. Were the heck is the oxygen coming from? It's not coming from a buble under the hood come on.
This story is crazy and you guys know it. IT"S IMPOSSIBLE! Later all.

coming from the guy with 186 posts.

i didnt hear what the cop said, its not my car. Im going by what he told me the cop said. Again he first saw the car back at the dealership. Thats where i first saw it too, from the residue of the grime and what the tech said the front end had definately went under water.
they pulled the car OUT OF THE LAKE.

but ok, believe what you want to believe.

i dont got sh*t to prove on here.

the funniest thing about the internet is u have these f*cking geeks who can be who ever they want to be behind a computer screen , talk sh*t but in real life are nothing more then geeks with low self esteem.
