06blackg85ss is putting down 411whp on the stock internals. This is on a turbo. About all u can "safely" do on the stock blower is 300whp(and that is cause of the pistons but many people have run for over a year on a 2.8 pulley(270 whp) plus a 50 wet shot which would put u at 320whp.

The main limiting factor is the pistons.

Agreed, 1st thing to be done would be Diamond Pistons.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to do it once and right. If you're really concerned or just want to be safe, get some new ones. I think you'll be more then safe with stock rods though.

And for the record, twin charging is not efficient and not worth the money. Go with one or the other.

$800+ for rods no way and for what? As long as Ive been here, I have not herd or seen anyone lose a connecting rod its always the piston. The stock lsj rods are forged, just get a good set of pistons and you'll be fine for any street/strip lsj....

No, the Eagle rods are too short and the wrong small end bore.

Either Pauter or ship a stock rod off to a big name company and they can reproduce 4 new rods for you.

rods arn't as big a deal as you think.

as far as getting some, similar to pistons, you'd need to know the measurements of the rod, and then you can shop for them.

the odds are that someone makes something that will work, if you know what to order.

pauter FTW.... these r mine from them

and if u get diamond pistons they have 2 mod the stock rod 2 fit the diamond piston pin cause it is just a hair bigger... but for the cost of having your rod mod'd u could have had over half of the cost of a new lighter stronger rod made 2 fit

oh yeah on 104 octane car put down 440whp 400wtq completely stock motor. from valve cover to oil pan.

Never heard of this.... We have sold over 25 sets, and none of our customers have stated that the Diamond pistons wont fit on the stock rods.

The Diamond pistons should be a direct fir for stock rods, with no modification.

The diamonds won't fit the stock wrist pin bore, they are just a hair too large. every set I've done we've had to have to the wrist pin bushing honed out a tad.

Thats if you use the Diamond wrist pins. The stock wrist pins in the Diamond pistons fit but are on the large side of acceptable tolerance. The issue is the GM pin is actually made to a tighter tolerance than the Diamond one.

Good info, IMO it would be better to have it this way, that way you can have the whrist pin fit perfect....

I thought the OP stated that the physical rod hit the piston, which is another story...

Interference on the whrist pin to rod bearing IMO is good, as you can have the fit on a nominal size...

Witt, Spike, 06blackg85ss, and turbotechracing thanks for the info, I'm def gonna get new rods then if the stock need to be modified anyway plus I'm trying to play it safe as I don't seem to have good luck w/ cars or anything for that matter ha... so 06blackg85ss are you offering to sell those or are you just letting me know how much they run? lol and what was the turnaround to get Pauter to custom make them? (not a big deal, but just wondering how long you waited)
