Continuing the build...

So i made my first purchase and install, the zzp cai. Now the s3 is next and had a couple of questions. I want to get the most power out of my car safely with the stock blower (for now...) aside from the cai the car is stock w/ 50k miles. First question is w/ the zzp s3 kit, whats best for cooling? The griffin h/e combined with zzp s3 h/e? Or griffin by itself? Option b w/ dual pass or zzp single pass? Meth kit somewhere in there? Im still trying to decipher what it all means and what goes with what. Next is Which option am i suppose to pick if im going to run 60s with either a 2.8 or 2.9 pulley.. Zzp adjustable tensioner, smaller belt, or an oversized tensioner pulley? With all this ill prolly get the midlength header/ dp combo and keep stock cat back for sound. Also hopefully will be having m-dub tune me but another prob is he is 5 hours away. What can be installed by a noob modder and what should wait until the tuner is within reach? Dont wana install some of that and them drive 5 hours and blow up on the way to tuner lol. Any help is greatly appreciated.

well i wouldent call it a build your doing bolt ons for cooling a zzp singlepss lim along with a griffen. you dont need a secondary h.e. with the griffen as for the header go zzp long tube i would run the the zzp stg3 minus the h.e. if you go with the griffen and a 2.8 i would run 80s for the inj gives you room to grow and their intake and you can install all the above and run it just fine on the zzp tune and when you get to the tuner do th meth

Thx good info. 80s arnt overkill? I thought the 60s were overkill until i went lower than 2.8 or a tvs. Was aiming for 250-300hp. As much as i can get without having to port or replace internals

op with this setup you would be near 300whp with room to grow and have little to no heat issues which is perfect for what your goals are now.

I'd go with the stage 2 belt on the 2.8 pulley works great for me and I only have 4 ribs. Also seems to be the cheapest option.

I'd go with the oversized tensioner pulley, the smaller belt that comes with the zzp kit is crap, they sent me a true gm belt after theirs started to fall apart after 1000 miles

X3...

Call up Greg @ CED and he'll hook you up w/ a good deal on an LNF TOB, new clutch pipe and GMPP Upgraded Clutch. Can't hurt to get new fluid too.

Just checked, it does. Back in the day when I ordered mine, they didn't have the kit so nicely put together. Gotta love the peoples at CED!

Ecotec LSJ Clutch Upgrade Kit 19212712 - Crate Engine Depot

BTW, OP, this is dirt cheap for a clutch upgrate and some of us are running very high power on them...

I see its rated up to 300hp. U said that some run high power on them meaning over 300? It os a very nice package tho thx for the link! Now how about the tranny? I called a shop in atlanta and they said that the stock trannys are weak and that he has trannys from i forget what car but he could put it in the cobalt. Needed? Or not?

So long as you don't drive like an idiot, the transmission is just fine. Could use some bracing to prevent case flex, but that's not really necessary for you...

Stage 2 rotated transmission mounts are a nice thing to have as well. I have mine from OTTP, but ZZP also sells these and I believe powell racing as well(could be wrong)

I'm not sure how'd your brace it. I'd prefer to not weld to a case since it very well could warp and **** you. It is 100% case flex that kills them, if you could figure out how to swap in an f23 then you'd not have to worry since people with j-bodies are beating the **** out of them while having 600 wheel.

Bracing has already been down by PRS. If John sees this, maybe he'll be kind enough to share the pictures I know he has...

I'm not saying it cant be done. You can weld in some gussets easy enough but you have to have the right combination of luck and knowing what the **** you're doing with a welder to not warp the case.
