CPS sensor question

I'm going to an Intense stage kit on my cobalt ss/sc and I am wondering what actually needs to be done regarding the CPS (crank positioning sensor) ?

I have heard rumors this needs to be reset? replaced? I have HPTuners as well but do not have the new PCM or kit intalled yet. Can I use HPTuners to reset this instead of having to take it to the dealership?

Thanks in advance for your help!

On a side note, where is the crank position sensor located?? I was looking for it, and didnt see it on the back of the engine or anywhere easily visible on the front. Is it above/behind something?? If someone who knows where it is could please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When you put in the new pcm you will have to do a securety relearn to get it to start. Once started you will have a check engine light come on (some don't but you still need this done). You then have to take it to a dealer and tell them you need a crank positioning sensor relearn, they will no what to do.(if your worried about what the dealer will say take it to saturn, thats what i did). They will probly charge you 30min worth of labor or nothing. Then your all done. Just make sure not to go over half throttle till you get this done.

The sensor is in the motor i think. You don't need to do anything phyisically with it just a dealer needs to realern it.

I know its on the motor, but where? I want to check the connector. I had the car shut off on me once a while back, for no reason. Felt like I took my foot off the gas. Wouldn't restart for about two minutes. Just want to see where it is so I can unplug it. While changing the oil yesterday i looked and didn't see it anywhere obvious. I was thinking that it is above the starter or something. Just hoping someone knows so i don't have to dig around too much. Damn I miss working for GM and having access to the service diagnostic systems.
