Cracked piston, possible build in progress. Need some advice
ok so just had the car checked out, my number 1 piston has a crack. So honestly I am not a car mechanic by any means. So I am going to get the Diamond forged pistons, a new head gasket, head studs, piston rings. Is there anything else I am going to need to buy to have this completed.
I am going to have to do the work myself unless I can find a shop to do it for 900 bucks or cheaper. Any ideas thoughts?
HELP!!!

To get the pistons out youll have to pull the head off, and the oil pan out. That means new head gasket, new oil pan gasket. Maybe new head bolts. It's imporant to get correct torque on the bolts in the proper sequance. YOu'll need new piston rings probably, some build up oil. Basicly your talking about one step short of in the Aviation industrty would be a "Top Overhaul" Except on most aircraft piston engines, the cylinders can be removed indivuadly You'll need your cyilinders honed, If you change ONE piston you SHOULD change all four but you dont have to. It's a fun project if you have a spare car to run to the store and stuff with, and the money for the tools and such.
