crazy condinsation
crazy condinsation
i painted my headlights about a month ago and i'm getting alot of condinsation in them. What type of sealer did some of you use? i use a silicon sealer. like you would use to seal up a bath tub. lol prolly a bad descision. any help?
I manage a paint and body shop and used a product made by 3M called "TPO Plastic Repair" to seal the lenses to the body and then applied butyl tape (aka dum dum tape) over that. Worked very well. Check out my gallery to see my lights.
mine are oin the same, no condensation for months, all of a sudden, the drivers side starts foggin from the bottom to about an inch and half up and 3 inches across, i think drying them and a good bead of silicon will do the trick.
lol...well i siliconed the hell outta mine just to make sure it wouldn't get the condensation
The trick is that you actually don't want them 100% sealed, you want a small "leak" usually at the bottom is best. some headlight assemblies actually have a vent tube, I haven't pulled mine out to see if it has a vent or just a part that isn't sealed at the joint.
yea i know the lights on the SS/SC....well at least mine have little bluish green caps over a about an 1/8 of an inch hole on the top of the headlight the caps are cloth/fabric and let the condensation evaporate out of the headlight
same here driver side at the bottom in the same spot as you...kinda funny
