Crazy Idle...with CEL

Ive been a member here for a couple months and have been more of a thread reader than a poster. So here it goes...

Alright, so I took my car on some spirited driving last night. And shortly after I punched it (yes it was warmed up...I had already been driving for a bit that night and the entire day)the car's idle started bobbing up and down and I would push the gas and the car would lurch. Like, really lurch hard, then it would try to die. So, I stopped and while the car was attempting to idle, it would idle at its normal 800-1000rpm then rise to 2500-3000rpm then drop to 300rpm and repeat. The vacuum is normal, around 17-20Hg on the gauge. I can't for the life of me figure out what is going on.
The other odd thing is that the CEL wasn't on until this afternoon when I got into the car and tried to start it. Well, it started right away but then immediately died. It was doing the same thing it was last night.
I would let the car idle for a bit then bring the rpm up to around 3k-4.5k and let it sit there for about 20seconds or so and then try and drive it and it would lurch first and some of second gear, I would really have to stay on the clutch for it to keep from lurching. Then it would dive normal. It wasn't till I started driving up a hill that the car was driving "normal" and the CEL came on. Now I'm completely stumped and all I won't have access to my scanner for a couple days.

Oh, and the car's engine is completely stock.

Hope you guys can help me with this.
If you need me to explain anything else, just let me know.

Thanks

Sounds like it's in Limp Mode. That's really strange. Did you get the code read yet?
