Not to get off topic or anything but why do you guys all feel you need a 3" exhaust system. 2 1/2" is plenty.

On my custom 3" exhaust I used a magnaflow resonator and a magnaflow muffler. I like the sound of it, mine doesn't have a cat so its insanly loud. It sounds good and at first it doesn't have any rasp, but after the muffler and resonator break in it gets a little rasp when its cold, but once it warms up the rasp goes away.

You can get plenty of power with a 2.5" exhaust system. Understand that your form of forced induction isn't reliant on your exhaust system. All it will do is shift your powerband upwards, kind of like what it would do on an naturally aspirated vehicle but I'm sure you guys have a stronger velocity than a n/a engine.

As far as a deep tone, you can get it with whatever size exhaust system...the diameter of your exhaust system isn't the only factor as far as sound.

cti offers a full 3 inch exhaust system with a choice of a dynomax or magnaflow muffler.

Well concidering the guys with 2.5" and 2.6" pullies start to loose power at around 6500-6700 rpm a slight upward shift couldn't hurt. Also I have yet to hear a 2.5" exhaust (on a ss s/c) thats as deep as mine

Sound is only according to how the person designs their exhaust.

Well, I have plans for my cobalt as do alot of ppl. Im going the full turbo way, and having the 3"in on there now, and not having to upgrade it later on jsut helps me now. being i have a lil more power, all i have to do later is cut the weld, Change manifolds and doeverything else u would have to do to bolt up the turbo.

Oh, well, in that case, more power to you, 3" is the way to go!

Good luck.
