custom tuning

does anyone know if there's a problem when you do custom tuning from when you go to stock parts to a cai, 2.9 pulley and 42 lb injectors? is there going to be a lot of problems in the future since the boost is going to increase? should i be looking into a cooling mod before i start doing a custom tune??

you'll def want the custom tune ASAP, your car wont know its getting more fuel from those injectors.

oh im fully aware of that but i've also been told that i'd need some cooling mod like the water/meth kit to make it 100% functional or else my car won't last as long?? is this true?? from stock to that size pulley and injectors, would it be about 5 lbs boost or more??

well youll def need to monitor things like knock, afr, and your intake temps. You may be able to get away without any cooling mods on a 2.9 safely but I would probably go for the dual pass intercooler mod.

You should be okay with a 2.9". Run 93 octane and go 1 step colder spark plugs. Methanol is purely optional on a 2.9" pulley, you don't need it.

A cheap cooling mod you could do is to get another coolant surge tank and hook it up in series with your intercooler. This will allow higher coolant/water capacity and the ability to use ice if you want.

uhhh last time I checked EFIlive cannot be used on any GM 4 cyl.

IIRC hptuners is your one and only option.

Yah I had a friend who went to tech school and was blabbing left and right about EFIlive and I said I dont think it works for my car bud. He kept goin on and on about it so I finally looked at their website and couldnt find anything for our cars................

Ok I take that back, I just now looked and since the last time I've checked (about 4-5 months ago) it looks like the 2.0L LSJ is now supported but nothing else. I wonder if anyone else has used this?

Im still not sure if you are able to tune with this though. Anyone know more about EFILive and the LSJ?

i just called the shop and they are stating that if i'm going from 12-12.5 lbs of boost to 18-19 lbs of boost, its the best decision to get a cooling mod or else it wouldnt be as best of a tune and the car would run smoother..is that true??

uhhhh if your hitting 18-19 psi then yeah you def need cooling mods but a 2.9" pulley will not get you there.
