Arrow cut out vs full exhaust

I have an 06 lsj with intake, 2.7 pulley, 60s, meth, fmhe, 1 step colder plugs, rotated mounts, traction rods, and pacesetter headers. My question is which would be better a full eshaust 3in zzp header n dp combo with a mendral bent exhausts 3in cat back or an exhaust cut out right after my headers? Thanks guys

My vote is full exhaust. The cut outs are very limited in their application, it's not like you can drive around with them open a whole lot. For me, I do 99.99% of my driving on the street, not at the track, so I need something that will give me good performance all the time. Cut outs are almost like nitrous, it can only be used at certain times. Even with electronicly controlled cut outs that you can switch open and closed at whim, I'd much rather have the extra power and sound all the time.

I have a little more mods than you, and I am putting on a 3" catback to complete my exhaust this week. I'll let you know how it goes when it's on.

3" Exhaust +1

Yes please let me kno how the 3in works with your setup. From what I heard I'm on the boarder between 2.5 or 3in exhaust. I was courious about the cut out cuz #1 its cheaper and #2 its very ballsy to pull up at a light n have some jerk off revin and I flick a switch and my car starts settin off alarms lol

go with the full exhaust. Ive heard horror stories of cut outs leaking and making people pass out at the wheel.

LOL, true that would be pretty fun... But I'd rather go for the sleeper effect and have somebody try to mess with me on the road, only to get walked by a Cobalt...

I have cut outs on my Chevelle, but they require crawling under the car to uncap them. Electronic would be nice.

You can get a custom 3" exhaust made on the cheap, or buy one online for about $450 from mandrelexhaustsystems.com

yea, ******* crazy. The gasket that opened/closed the valve was leaking exhaust directly into the cab. Not cool.

imo having an exhaust you gotta listen to it everywhere you drive, you can never keep quiet, people look at you, every downshift, every neighborhood, every supermarket plaza, every drivethru, every time you're on the highway many peeps get a drone depending on the exhaust. me however I don't have any problems like that with my cutout. as quiet as can be and as loud as can be at the flick of a switch. mine never leaks either but you can smell exhaust when you're sitting at a stoplight with it open and youre windows down.

You may get a bit more LOW end torque with a full exhaust and possibly more high end hp with a cutout, but to tell you the truth i didnt notice a difference between my cutout and 3" catback. You WILL scare the hell out of anyone you race with the cutout open though lol

you will loose power with a cutout, its already been proven. and you will burn up your ****. supercharged cars cant just run an open exhaust like a turbo car... over time your gonna do some serious valve damage.

here at work, our diesel hose trucks leaked diesel fumes into the truck, so we had to reroute the exhaust tip. It would make my eyes sting for sure.

that's a completely false statement. You won't do any kind of damage to your valves at all with a cutout. That doesn't have anything to do with your exhaust vavles. And those tests were flawed. Anybody that actually knows what the **** they are talking about will tell you that after you put a modification on your car, you have to tune for it.

that completely depends on your mods and your tune.

im gonna have to go ahead and disagree. i personally seen exhaust cutouts make less power on the dyno. with a supercharger that is.
