stage 2 pulley

Hello, I have an 07 cobalt ss/sc. I want to get the stage 2 pulley kit but I have never installed one before. Is this something a beginner like myself can install or should I have someone else do it. I was also wondering what size pulley I should get. I know they have a 2.9inch and a 3inch. Also, will I have to put different size belts in as well? Thanks for the info.... oh, one more question, how much HP is typically gained? Thanks again.

Hey, if u want to do everything urself except the tune it's easy. The only thing u will need is a Pulley Puller or take it to a machine chop so they can take off the pulley for u. Then when u get that done u will need to find someone to tune u or buy a PCM already tuned like from OTTP. They sell a whole stage kit for like 400$ or u can get hatricks ^ and just buy the pulley puller or take it to the machine shop.

Yes, u will need to change ur belt.

if you are running a stock right now. you will need a pulley puller as the stock pulley is pressed on. i had the gm dealer put my stage 2 setup on. once the setup is on. the belt you get with stage 2 can be used with pulleys as small as 2.7 so you should be good. hope that helps you.

However, should you decide to go this route, it would be worth your while to invest in some sort of cooling mod as well.

Since yours is stock you're going to need pulley, belt and injectors. If you don't get it tuned it will run lean and your car will go boom.

that is mearly a myth. There is nothing you can do to the car while still on the stock tune. The factory injectors are all but maxed out just running the stock pulley so if you drop sizes, you'll lean out and go kaboom.

You need to either buy a stage KIT which will include pulley, belt, injectors w/ harness, and prolly a canned tune if you want it

EDIT: If you keep the stock belt, you'd have to get the oversized tensioner pulley. That's the only thing you can keep from your stock set-up
