Cutout

I saw someone posted theyre running a cutout, I just want to know if it gave you good gains while open. I only have stage 2+gmpp cat-back exaust now, I'm probably just gonna get a dp/header combo, but if a cutout is more effective when its actually open compared to getting a dp/headers then I'm realy considering it. stg2+gmpp exaust is fine for everyday driving, I wouldnt mind theloud as **** sound from the cutout if I'm only using it when I really wanna rip on it hard in straight-line accel. I just wanna know if anyone with a cutout has dynoed their car with a pull cut-out closed and a pull cut-out open to see what kind of a difference its making

I haven't seen any numbers but I also plan to have a cut-out welded into the end of a 3" header/DP then bolt up to the stock exhaust ... I'm sure it will help a little - as in most cars...

I'll probaly get the ZZP 3" DP and have a local shop cut/weld in the cut-out - which I then plan to open/close electrically - as long it will fit/work out...

I tried an e-cutout.
i was running a 2.8 with 60lbers intake header dp exhaust...
and it was off and in the garbage in 2 weeks.
they leak, rattle, and sound terrible.
all of this i was willing to put up with, if it made more power.
but it didnt, the car felt gutless with it open.

leave the cutouts for the turbo boys imo

Yea, I run one, But I didn't do a before or after dyno. I could easily do one though when I get back from my deployment. Right now I'm tuned with it opened. If you actually tune for it, it won't feel gutless. My tq is a flat line from 4100 to 5Krpms. And my tq doesn't drop below 190 from 3K all the way up to 7500.

yes but you dont have a zzp 1.75 primary header, to a 3 inch catless dp, with a 3 inch E-cutout

it was just to big for my car.
trust me, i tried tuning for it.

lol, no I don't. I have stock exhaust with a 2.5" cutout added to the end of the stock downpipe. When I get back, I'm adding a pacesetter header and custom 2.5" downpipe to the cutout. I don't think it will be to much as I'm not going with a 3". But we'll see.

Just so ya know, My pacesetter header is actually designed for the 2.2 ecotec cavy's, I picked it up off my friend for 40 bucks. He has a 2.2 supercharged ecotec cavy. I'm not complaining since I got it for so cheap.

well i will tell you this, my e-cutout was able to be positioned "half opened"
and at that position, it didnt feel to bad at all.

so i can certainly believe it would work ok on a stock setup with 2.5 cutout.

yea, I've heard "half opened" works pretty good. I don't have that option though as mine is a manual cutout. I'm hoping I don't lose any low end tq when I throw the header and downpipe on though.
