DAMIT!!!!! 1st track time

So I went to the track Fri night to see what I would run B 4 I started modding. I dyno'd last week at 226 hp on a dynojet. (I'm stock btw) So b 4 I raced, i figured id put on the Ingals Tq Damper to get rid of the wheel hop. Still no power adders.
So the 1st run sucked, I bogged it, blah blah blah, ok. It was my first run at a track with a manual car. After that, I realized 2 thing.

1st. I REALLY SUCK AT RACING A STICK CAR.
Like, Bogging, not being able to come off the line good , had a few problems with the 2nd to 3rd throw. I just got progressivly more and more pissed off cuz I felt like I was imbarrissing (sp) myself.

2nd. I DID NOT INSTAL THE GOD DAMN DAMPER RIGHT CUZ THERE WAS MASSIVE AMMOUNT OF WHEEL HOP!!!!! 1 TIME I GOT IT REAL BAD, AND I WAS LIKE F*** IT, I CAN'T COME OFF THE LINE HARD CUZ I DON'T WANNA BREAK ANYTHING. SO THE I STARTED KINDA ***** FOOTTING IT. SSSSOOOOO FRUSTRATING.

Bright spots of the night. The last 30 min, no 1 was really racing, so if U ran the car, u would just go right back to the line after u were done. I must have raced this GT Mustang like 6 times. I was like 3 for 3. Really good races. actually they all came down to the start. but after he was done, he found my friends and asked them what i had done to it. (They told him I was stock and he was like WOW). And when I went to put some Air back in my tires (I took out 5 lbs for like 3 races) there were a bunch of ppl looking at the car and wanting to talk. The one guy ran over and gave me a card for Tune Time Performance. Told me to give them a call.

So all in all, it wasn't the worst night, but compaired to what most of the other ppl on here run stock, I'm pissed. Maybe at the next cobalt meet in Edgewater I can have some 1 help me look and see how the F to get that damper tighter! Thanx for reading

thankx man, but i need like a friggin lession or sumin to help cuz I was pretty bad. Tho's times are ALL CAR. Driver Mod -1.0 last night. That reminds me.

this might sounds friggin weird, but after I ran the thing all night, We let it sit for a lil while, and we went home. I noticed on the way home the shifting felt much smoother as did the clutch. I was wondering if me racing it might have actually broken them in a lil more or what? Or am i just mental?

just keep practicing... i always launch from different rpms... i can launch from 3k pretty good with minimal wheel spin, but it feels like when i launch from 2k with minimal spin, i get a better take off... i figured that the higher the launch, the better off... guess not in mycase...

are you new at driving stick in general or just racing? because if you just started driving a stick you will improve on your race times with just normal driving around practice.

aahhh well, I drove around my GTZ beretta for about 2K miles 2 years ago. Besides that, never drove stick. I guess it wasn't as bad as i thought, but still, I was hoping for like a 14.2 or sumin. (Real goal was a 14.4 actually) guess I came pretty close. When I saw the dyno tho, I got all pumoped like I was just gunna tear ass on everything! lol WAKE UP CALL for Mr. Russo!

It should be ok, but maybe a few k more would have been good. It seems to me that my car seems to get a lil stronger as she gets older. I have 12k on her now, never raced yet. Were you at max boost by 2k?

everyone is right. when i first got mine i the best time i ran was a 14.5 at 97 mph stock and now i run 13.99 at 100.8 mph stock. so once you learn how to lunch it you get alot better times. heres some advice drip the tire pressure down to 20 like i do it helps alot and dont rev it up at the line and dont fully get on it till 2nd gear. thats how i broke 100 mph and like i said im stock. plus i have over 40000 miles on it so im really use to the car. just my 2 sence.

Post it in this thread also when you get it. You'd be the fastest stock 1/4 mile time.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...ial+1%2F4+mile

Make sure you confirm anything you changed because you'll get a lot of questioning. Did you change:

Tires, intake, ETD, tire pressure, mounts? Any of those things can be debated as "not stock."

my car went 14.1or 14.2 @ 100 2.2 60' (airbox mod), you have to know how to drive the car, stock times can range from low 14 to well, you see the high 15's....haha

this was like 2 years ago(05), no i dont have a slip

what do you do take off all your mods and run it? I call bs on that 13.9@101. was that COMPLETELY stock, or is it internet stock? meaning you have stickier rubber and some little mods that people may not notice
