it sounds like they didnt torque em right....i installed mine that i bought off the group buy and havent had any problems yet...the bolts are a pain and hard to get to so it is definitely possible that they didnt torque the bolts down right for w/e reason

hey guys i am here at the shop... unfortunately it broke at the flexpipe. My mechanic is on the phone with zzp now and it sounds like i am just going to buy another downpipe/cat and get it overnighted and then ship this sh!tty one back. The actual flange was not even welded to the d4mn downpipe.

This is ridicolous, I can't believe it.

I called zzp this is basically what is going to happen. I am buying another downpipe/cat for 175 dollars, and they are shipping it ups ground, i could have it tomorrow, but will have it no later then wednesday, i live pretty close to the warehouse.

Then i will send them back the broken downpipe/cat along with my old cat, and i will be refunded my 175 dollars.

So basically they are doing absolutely nothing for me except resolving the issue which is there job. I feel they should have also compensated me in some way since my car will be out of service for 3 days.

I would highly highly recommend NOT buying a zzp downpipe. They have been having problems with them for years, then they "updated" them by making the flange larger, then they were having bolt problems, so the changed those, however still, with everything they have changed, they cant even last 1 week on my car, common!

Dont buy the downpipe from zzp!!

Just to update everyone yesterday the following went down.
1. Was at the shop, they took off the downpipe we all saw it broke at the flexpipe
2. After further inspection we realized the flexpipe was not welded to the downpipe from zzp. It was a factory "oops."
3. We called zzp and they wanted me to return the downpipe, have them inspect it, and then they would ship me one out. Which would mean I would be without a car for roughly we will be nice and say 4 days.
4. Instead I ended up buying another downpipe/cat for 175 dollars, yesterday on monday. They shipped it out monday, and by the grace of god UPS decided to put it on the correct truck, and it will be at my house sometime late afternoon.
5. Once i get the downpipe/cat I will have my mech double check its all good, and then install it.
6. Then I am packaging up the old downpipe and cat, and my original factory cat, and shipping it back with the return prepaid label that they sent me for my factory cat.
7. Once they get the downpipe/cat/cat back, they will refund me my 175 dollars and refund me 50 dollars store credit for my other cat.
8. Then I will hope this one doesn't break within 1 flipping week!

I've had a few downpipes from ZZP. A 3" with a cat, a 3" without a cat and a midlength header downpipe combo and have yet to have one break on its own. Now, last year, I went into a parking lot and caught my resonator which ended ripping the downpipe off. I have pics in my photobucket and I started a thread. I don't remember, but I think it was crimped as well. I will say that I had over 15k miles without incident.

Monday I will have the shop look at it and see what they can do, do you guys think I should contact zzp and tell them about this, is it a common issue? I swear I read somewhere that people were having problems with there downpipes and bolts or something, maybe im wrong though.

Let me know, thanks guys.
I haven't heard of any issues where the bolts came loose..
I know with mine, the bolts actually snapped under load. The kit came with a crappy grade of bolt. After they snapped (20 minutes on the car) I went out and bought higher grade bolts and never had any issues after that.

i didn't mean bolts coming lose, i ment bolts snapping, in my case the flexpipe broke, these are very 2 common issues. Even zzp themselves will admit to it. I am taking the car into the shop at 4 central, will be back shortly and letcha know how it goes.

Luckily the new one they sent me, the shop mech said that the flange was tach welded on and looked good to go. We got it installed and everything seems good, however it almost sounds like if theres a slight exhaust leak somewhere, but i am not sure, i only hear it when i am at full throttle in a higher gear, like 5th gear, 40mph, full throttle, not say 3k rpms in 1st or 2nd.

yeah zzp always fixes there issues, somtimes it's a bitch getting them to accept that there is an issue... but once they do they fix it... like the shitty bolts they were giving out that problem is long gone, but how many people had to have em break before they fixed it was the problem...

im glad to see that they took care of you...
