Darn PO 420 engine code NEW cat needed!

Well after reading several threads about the 420 code & using my ODBII scaner to read & clear the code daily I had to take it to the dealer as it was poping up everyday.

First off I have a great service tech & dealer that don't slam me for CAI Exhaust & smaller SC pulley so they warranty about everything as my Cat is toast & it's being replaced tomorrow when the part gets there.

I'm really starting to wonder about this car as its had close to $8000 in parts replaced under warranty & I'm now at 42000 miles

Mods
I have STG 2
2.85 pulley
Ingalls TD
Ingen CAI
GM Preformance Exhaust
Dual pass cooler

Parts replaced under warranty!
O2 sensors the second week I had the car
Passanger side rocker piece cracked & was replaced 3 months old
Repaint door jams as the paint as ruff & non exsistant
Passanger CV shaft about 4months old
The entire steering rack & tie rod assembly
Timing chain tensioner
Interior air filter was removed
Shifter assembly
All 4 wheels due to chipping
Both tranny mounts
Now the Cat

I know I might be high at $6000 but you figure the cat alone is $800 then the labor I'll bet it would cost me close to $1000 to have it done, now after my warranty is up I'd do all the work my self but belive me I'll use every bit of my warranty up to 75000 miles!

I love the car it's fun to drive & a blast to race but dam the up keep would kill me if not for the warranty & a good thing is most the parts are updated versions like the steering assembly & rocker pannel as GM found some flaws in them.

I was thinking of keeping this car for along time & just buying a new one in 3 years but now I'm rethinking my theory.

Hey are there any good tuners in or around Iowa or even Illinois area?? as this car runs so ritch on the GM tune I need to do something or I'm sure at 80,0000 I'll need another cat.

a cat should be installed in as little as 20 minutes...and it shouldnt cost you $800 (though i guess it does when its from the dealer)

stock cat from GM is $550 im in the market for one. and if you install it yourself you get a 1 year warranty on it. (thats what the dealership told me about my exhaust, they go off of your reciept so keep it as for that is when your 1 year starts)

Yea I agree & I'll look at the paper work but what I hate is everything they replace under warranty has no pricing on it so I really can't tell I'm just going off of what my tech said!

I had 1999 Tahoe with a whipple sc on it check the link below & bought an extended warranty for it & one time I exploded the transfer case & this tech got it replaced under the warranty as he said if they ask about any mods I have to tell them BUT if they don't ask I don't tell Cuz the Whipple would have voided the warranty on the drive train!

So I trust this tech & I realize all dealer seem to have there own prices, like I can get alot of parts like my rotor cheaper from Creat engine depot rather than my dealer.

I just find it bad to have all this stuff go bad before 50,000 as I have owned cars that never needed a cat new with over 150,000 but I guess thats the difference between stock & preformance!
