Dex-cool

When installing the cxracing heat exchanger do you mix the Dex-cool 50/50 with water or do you poor it in straight? I've heard both...

if its straight dexcool, mix it 50/50, if its pre-mix dexcool, dont mix it.

I did about a 70 distilled water and 30 dexcool in mine! Water is better for heat removal

Thats correct... if you live in warm climate where it will never freeze than you can use 100% distilled water if you want to....

BUT ONLY IN THE S/C COOLING SYSTEM!

Its prestone. I beleive that it needs to be mixed. Should I do 50/50 or 70/30??? I think 50/50 would be safest.

I think the 50/50 mix is for subzero temps, which most of the US doesn't ever see. If you dont live up north, I'd do the 70/30. All the dexcool does is lowers the freezing/raises the boiling point of the water.

Yes that is correct... dexcool is only there for the antifreezing properties.... so if you are in a temperal climate that doesn't get below 0* F than just run straight distilled water!

I used a 70/30 mix because I was in Missouri where it does get to 0* or colder!

This is not true coolant is a lube for the water pump without it within a few months you will be replacein the pump.

But i have heard dex cool is what makes intake gaskets go on other gm vehicles

Add some water wetter to that as well and you will see even cooler temps especially being anywhere warm/hot.

Distilled water (none of that tap crap) and some form of engine coolant. You don't need to run 50/50 if you don't live where it gets really cold, but the coolant does more than just lower your freezing point and raise your boiling point. In fact, the raising of the boiling point comes more from your engine coolant system being pressurized. It contains anticorrosion chemicals as well as chemicals to keep algie and other nasty growths from forming in your system, etc.

I would suggest an 90/10 plus addative as the lowest for your SC W2A cooling system and 75/25 plus addative for your engine cooling system. Just remember that the lower the % of coolant, the more often you will have to change it since you'll have less of the other chemicals.

Waterwetter only last about 6 months before completely breaking down. There are a few that last closer to a year.

I wonder if anyone has pressurized their SC cooling system yet, since it would net some minor gains during hard use. Since it doesn't get nearly as hot, a 5psi limit would work fine, compared to the 14~17psi found in most engine cooling systems.
