diamond piston coatings

i want to know which coating would be a better investment, the top coating or the skirt coating... and how much of a difference it would be getting them coated to not getting them coated. im sticking with the stock blower for as long as i have the car. im going to be getting an ott stage1 kit, full exhaust and some cooling mods, thats it.

The ceramic coating will help with heat. The moly coating will help with wear from side loading. Get them both.

if you can, get both. if you can only get one, get the sides.

because the only reasons the stock ones fail is because they cannot handle the heat levels as the forged ones can, say like diamonds. so in reality, you don't really NEED either coating since you'e just going ottp stage1. but if you do get one coating get the sides, the tops will be fine if youre just doing stage1

I would do them both if possible just beacause if you decide to modify to a greater extent you have nothing to worry about

Nice to know that some people are worried about reliability instead of just pushing the limits of what they can get by with..

a forged diamond piston in itself is plenty reliable for ottp stage1...

I guess I didn't word that really clearly.

Its nice to see people worrying about the big stuff early on in builds. Better safe than sorry.

Yes, I did.

He doesn't need them, but its still a nice upgrade over cast aluminum. Definitely more reliable.

Oh sorry, I misread your post.

I agree that he probably won't ever need the ceramic top coat, especially at the price. The side coating might be nice though.
