different muffler
yes i know, another exaust thread, just what we all want, but i have a little different question.
i bought my car from another member here (c24na) and he had done some exaust work. my car has a CA header (at least im pretty sure thats what it is) 3" catless downpipe. past that it has a 3" resonator and is 3" to just before the axle were it has a cutout and necks down back to the stock 2 1/4" pipe and has a stock muffler. i beleive the cat back is all custom made, and it is all mandrel bent tubing. i guess the idea was to have stock sounding exaust then open the cutout for racing. the problem is the step down from 3-2.25" creates some funky sounds.
what im thinking of doing is removing the exaust cutout (it scrapes on everything and i cant run it at the track on friday nights) and finnishing the exaust system off. doing it myself is no issue (i built my own headers and dual exaust on my 86 cavalier, a cat back is nothing compared to that).
enough back story and to the point, im after a muffler for it. i dont want loud and i dont want raspy, just a deep tone. i love the flowmaster 60 series however they are too small a pipe (2.0 or 2.25"). im after a 3" in/out oval/rectangular body muffer that will fit this. if need be ill add a 2nd resonator to it, i just really want to keep the noise down and get rid of the big bottleneck.

ive heard good things about them. my buddy has one on his sunbird (l61 ecotec, turbo running megasquirt, first eco swapped 1st/2nd gen j-body) with a 2.5" exaust with cat, and its extremly quiet.
biggest thing i run into with magnaflow is nobody can tell me what model number they have, they just say magnaflow. thats like saying i have a flowmaster, but dont know if its a supper 44 or a 60.
