dude what are you talking about? ZZP has a pulley puller that you can rent or buy, but they are out of stock.

You probably used the pulley puller wrong.

I know what he's talking about. I just got my stage 2 installed at the dealer and when I got the stock pulley back it was bent on the edges and a small piece of it was ripped off, and they used a press. It's not that a pulley puller isn't the right tool for the job, it's just that our pulleys are known for being ridiculously tight and often the puller prongs can't keep a grip on it and keep sliding off. Often its easier to just use a press. However, some people have no trouble getting it off so it can be hit or miss. Good luck finding a puller, there are definitely some people on the site that have them.

If the puller is made to pull off that specific pulley, this will not happen. At Mercedes we have a different puller for almost every application. However, we also have universal pullers; if we aren't going to reuse the part we use a universal puller.

In other words, you can use a universal puller and it may damage the pulley, but if used right it will not damage the shaft. If there is a specific puller, it will be built to grip the pulley or hub by it's strong points and avoid damage.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. I'm just familiar with using the universal ones for pulling bearings and pulleys on lots of the equipment at my parent's farm.

Oh cool; well that was my point. If it's made for the job it will work perfectly.

pm nherbst454, I know he makes his own pulley systems and stuff and rents out his pulleys. You have to pay full price for the pulley (100) but when you send it back to him, he refunds you (70). but he usually just does that for someone buying his pulley. So you'll have to talk to him personally.
