Does your boost gauge zero? *UPDATE *

I have noticed that when I turn my ignition (no start) on in my car that the needle on my boost gauge sets to -1psi.

My car has never read 12psi it is off by the amount that the needle sits under zero.

I recently drove another SS/SC and that one sat right at zero. I know the manual says changes in atmospheric conditions may change the position but the cars were side by side with different readings.

I originally thought my recent re-flash fixed this but after driving it in the 70 degree weather yesterday I was wrong. It was just the 30-40 degree weather adding a little boost.

The gauge isn't supposed to sit at zero. Your supercharger isn't putting out any boost. It is read in VAC not PSI down there.

This is normal.

How many miles are on your car? We've noticed it takes awhile for full boost.

The default position with just the acc. ignition on is Zero.

Since the gauge is defaulting at -1psi instead of Zero I would assume that that is why I am only seeing 11-1.5psi on my gauge.

Where does your needle sit with just the ignition on?

I think the ecm is sending the right signal but the needle is on wrong.

I had the same issue and a new gauge fixed it right up. The only downside was the 1 month wait on the part.

CodySS is talking about while the key is in the run position but the car isn't started. It should read 0 and match up with the Baro sensor.

I would be interested to know if the PCM thinks it's at -1.

I removed my boost gauge a while ago in favor of the interceptor

You might be able to get the dealer to replace the gauge under warrenty, but after looking at it there doesn't seem to be anything thats user servicable.

I am in good with my local dealership so I just called and told them what was going on.

A new one should be here in 2-3 days.

Mine said zero when i shut it off. In my opinion the stock is junk. I have since changed mine for an AutoMeter Carbon Fiber Mechanical Boost/Vac. Gauge and it seems much more responsive and accurate. My 1st gear never showed 12 psi now it does. Its also in single increments unlike the factory gauge(after 10 psi) so its easier to read the exact boost pressure. By the way, I got an AutoMeter Red LED light and it looks kick ass. Check it out....

yeah i changed to mechanical too

but when i went to put the LED light in it it F***** my whole gauge up...it was reading like 4lbs when the car was off and like 10VAC at idle when the idle should be closer to 20...and yeah its an autometer Ultra-lite gauge with an autometer LED in it, so its not the wrong parts or anything

It's probably just slightly out of calibration. The Dealer will likely adjust it or replace it...

I would go with something else but I like the color matched OE gauge.

Not sure another gauge would work. It runs off a freq. based signal from the PCM. Is that how other gauges work?

I just installed the other boost gauge and it solved the problem. This one sits right on zero like it is supposed to.

Got my warped rotors fixed too. If you haven't checked the torque on your lug nuts since you bought your car do it now!

Isn't the stock one an Autometer? I know mine says Autometer right on the face...
