Drivability without a tune

I was wondering what the "Don't do that **** ****" standard was for driving without a tune. For instance getting an aftermarket stage kit and then driving 100 miles to a place to get a tune. Doable, possible, don't do that **** ****? If its okay what precautions should I take during the journey.

if it is a kit and you are using the kit...i would hope that everything comes with it including some sort of pcm or turn/flash.

what kit are you talkin about?

I'd say drive to their house... then install the stuff... then get tuned... installing a pulley, injectors, and etc ain't too hard.

i just had the same problem. so i will share the experience with u.
i have a 2.9" pully and #42's as well as an AEM CAI, and custom 2.5" magnaflow exhaust. the pully CAN be installed before you go there. DO NOT install new injectors without a retune. i had my pully swapped for 2 weeks before i had it tuned. but i put the injectors in at the dyno shop in the parking lot. it took like 20 minutes and was really easy. there is a how-to on it in the how-to section.
good luck

IMO its way better to get a custom tune with aftermarket stuff. b/c the companies with the generalized tunes have to account for every worst case scenario.. such as an arizona desert @ 110* or something

You can easily drive around on the stock tune with 42#'s and a pulley. Just don't go WOT. Even GM says you can drive to the dealer for a stage 1/2 flash, and people did it before with the intense stage 3 and a MAF translator.
