Ok i just started getting a winding noise from the engine or drivetrain. Its noticable more at speeds above 50. Its consistant with engine speed not airflow so its not the intake. Anyone hav ideas? 156 k miles. I do alota highway driving

Wheel bearing is a good guess. It will get louder and quieter depending on which side when you go around a corner if it is a wheel bearing.

This. It will almost go away when you turn away from the side it's bad, and will get loud when you turn into it. GM wants 300 bucks for this part, but you can get it from autozone for like 154 - it's the whole hub assembly/anti lock brake sensor. Super easy to change.

Once you think you're sure on which side it's on, jack up the car and try to wiggle the wheel from side to side, if you notice play, then it's bad. Roll it, if it resists more than usual or has a noise, it's bad.

I would say it definitely sounds like a wheel bearing.

Im not hearing any difference wen turning side to side like you guys say. Its consistant wen driving straight or turning. No noise at. all wen speed is around 40 or less.

Maybe its in the beginng stages of going bad. I dontvhave any vibration at all now. And considering i drive a couple thousand miles a week, it would only b smart to replace both if it is the

Tready tires, like snow tires, will have more road noise.. It's unlikely it's that unless you noticeD this right when you put your current ones on.

I have an issue that sounds like that. Driving straight it's fine but if I turn right there's a slight "rubbing?" sound, but when I turn left there's nothing.

Your left side wheel bearing is probably bad

^^so if it's the opposite side of whichever direction I turn when there's that sound? (sound is when I turn right, so it's the bearing on the left?)

Well I'm not sure unless it's your axle shaft bearing

if it is your bearing jack up the car and put your hand on the spring if you feel a vibration on the spring it is your bearing (obvisously the one you spun). also whiggle the tire up and down if you feel any movement it could be that as well. and it is super easy to install
Step one: take the wheel off
Step two: take the caliper and rotor off
Step three: undo the tie rod end bolt and with a hammer hit the spindle next to the tie rod end. the tie rod end should pop out of the spindle after a few hits (don't hit the tie rod end or the bolt)
Step four: undo the axle nut
Step five: undo the two bolts on the strut and pull the spindle away from everything, except keep it connected to the lower ball joint.
Step six: undo the three bolts that hold the bearing and there you have it is out...
to put it back together obvisously go backwards through these steps...don't forget to make sure everything is tight! Also torque the axle nut to manufactures spec!!!

Is the noise heard in every gear, or only in 5th gear. It could be a bearing in the tranny thats failing.
