Driving with Stage II - No PCM Flash

I was planning in installing my stage II kit this weekend but I cannot get to the dealer for the flash right away ( a few days). Does anyone know if this will hurt the engine in any way?

I wouldn't recommend driving it at all if you can. If you do, baby the hell out of it. By the way, where is Adamstown?

Driving below 3k rpms would probably be safe, but I'd say its not worth the risk.

Yea I don't think it would be in your best intrest to install before reflashing. When I went from 42# to 60# I started the car to make sure it was running and my wideband was at like 10.4 at idle. I immediately turned it off and reflashed it.

You'll be better off if you just wait and do it all at once.

have it towed or install them in the parking lot of the dealer. you only need a few tools, and its like a 1hr total job. ...just a thought.

depends on what you install..

you can slap the pully on and be fine running around a few days just dont give it alot of hell.. but i would not touch the injectors unless you have the tune

LOL, stage II takes longer then 1 hour man....

Anyways, install it. Don't drive it until the day of your reflash. 7 miles will not be a big deal driving to the dealer. Just try not to boost. Its hard but it can be done.

good advice... i installed mine and drove it to the dealer

you will be fine driving it to the dealer if you take it very easy

i wouldnt drive it around anywhere except to the dealer before you get the reflash

That was my plan. Set the appointment up for the flash on a Monday morning and install the kit on Sunday. I considered installing it in the dealers parking lot on Sunday. Driving it there would be so much more convenient.

Here's an idea. Install the injectors, get the flash done THEN install the smaller pulley.

I did it.
Installed everything my self, then the next day drove 5 miles to the dealership.
As mentioned try and keep your shifts at 3k or below, and stay out of the boost.

Light pedal is the key.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for the input and I will be so glad to join the stage II club. I also ordered a XTC CA-CAI from Cobalt Addiction the same day I ordered my stage II kit but I haven't heard from them. I almost bought the Megan catback but I'm really not sure which exhaust i want to buy at this point.

Ok.....I installed my stage II kit over the long weekend. I drove it about 7.5 miles to the dealer this morning. Gave it no boost and never exceeded 2k rpm. No problems to report. What a big difference in power....great throttle response.

Thanks for the input!!

I can have a car stage 2 ready in an hour on my own.

Bryan (06Black) and I did injectors and a pulley swap in under 40 minutes
