I felt a difference in fit, because the K&N replacement filter has the wrong size inlet diameter, so it got taken back and i ordered an AEM dryflow with the correct 3.25 inch inner diameter inlet.

You feel a little difference but not that much. I had mine in for a month before went out and bought my AEM CAI to replace the air box entirely.

i know. thats what im talking about.
the E-0777 dropin K&N replacement fits like a $2 sloppy *****.
the outer diameter is incorrect. its even marked on K&N's website at 3.31 inch inner diameter.

where it is supposed to be 3.25.

its not much. but it was plenty enough for it to not hold itself on the intake pipe, and for me to take it back.

Thats the reason for me replacing it with the CAI. It was way loose in the airbox.

my drop in was found to be loose too. My solution? grease. nothing will get past it with the box lid closed up on it and the grease is in place just incase I am wrong.

Id be a little afraid of anything you apply to fit the filter getting to your MAF... since they are so finiky on these cars.....but i imagine you have had it on a while with no probs?

I considered getting a hose clamp and clamping the **** out of it to force it to fit, but at the time i was so dissapointed that a company like K&N would **** up something as simple as a dropin inner diameter, i took it back more out of protest than anything else.

i have the k&n e-0777 and it fits fine... it's not the tightest fit but it doesnt fall off while i secure the bottom. since i leave the lid off, i have the filter zip-tied securely. but i used it for a short time with the lid on and it didnt move.

before the k&n i tried a dry filter and i always got the lean code from the maf. i have driven 3,000 miles with the K&N and have yet to get the code. i really dont understand why so many people have problems with the k&n.

My K&N fit perfect , I had to twist it on and when i pulled it out for winter I had to do some wiggling to get it to pop off . Maybe they had a bad batch or something lately?

2 words... airbox mod... cold air for cheap. Don't waste your money on a drop-in... if you can't drop the cash for a full intake... go with the airbox mod...

?WTF? its grease on the top of the filter where it meets the filter box. there is no chance that it will get up into the MAF. this is not a new idea. I have done this as many do in north america with motocross bikes as per manufacturer recommendations.

Think what you want. It works.

Agreed and it works. I have 2 air boxes. one modified and one from someone else that I left stock so I can change it back to stock for winter.

Actually it was the first ones. I have had mine for a year and a half when they first were released. they have improved the fit.

My K&N fits tighter than a nun on the stock intake pipe. I left the bottom of the airbox off. It takes a great deal of pulling on it to get it to come off of the intake piping.

There is an audible difference in supercharger whine under higher loads, and Im sure a very minimal increase in HP.....

its quite a bit louder. its not noticeably quieter than an intake with a full metal pipe, but definitely alot louder than stock.

i noticed a difference from my k&n filter. but it was a bad difference, since the oik from the filter got on my maf and caused me to run super lean at wot. now i need a new maf sensor.

I used a K&N drop in filter and left the bottom of the airbox off (zip ties to hold it on secure). The fit is nice and tight and I have had no problems in the 2 months/3000 miles I have had that set up.

i have the sides of my air box dremeled out , so my K&N filter is free to breath, while still being held up by the bottom. and it is way louder than stock. i dont think its as loud as a real aftermarket CAI, but its way more noticable. I can hear my supercharger start whining at like 2K RPMS instead of 4K like it used to. as far as performance goes, i didnt "feel" anything. i havnt had any codes or such so im happy. i got some great sound and maybe a little performance for about 60 bucks.

I wouldn't suggest actually drilling out the sides of your airbox... just do the airbox mod w/a cone filter... if anything ever goes wrong, keep the stock filter and the bottom of the airbox handy so you can just screw it back on.

that is what I did. IMO this is safer with K&N drop in filter vs. a cone. the cone can come loose. that has happened in my other vehicles. hard to check the cobalt filter.
